		<official-title>To provide permanent treatment authority for participants
		  in Department of Defense chemical and biological testing conducted by Deseret
		  Test Center and an expanded study of the health impact of Project Shipboard
		  Hazard and Defense, and for other purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="H479DFCB0B3F643E290B1005D782DFCB" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Permanent treatment authority
			 for participants in Department of Defense chemical and biological testing
			 conducted by Deseret Test Center (including Project Shipboard Hazard and
			 Defense)</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/38/1710">Section 1710(e)(3)</external-xref>
			 of title 38, United States Code, is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="H46D874EBD16B4678AD8F3515463E8303"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph
			 (B), by inserting <quote>and</quote> after the semicolon;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H47346C4C9CD74FB7B876CA4286B91628"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subparagraph
			 (C), by striking <quote>; and</quote> and inserting a period; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H766596EEC78D46B496EECB715759E2EF"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by striking
			 subparagraph (D).</text>
			</paragraph></section><section id="id40BD4F6FF894481FB0319FC4FE177041"><enum>2.</enum><header>Expanded study
			 on the health impact of Project Shipboard Hazard and Defense</header>
			<subsection id="idFA2F54F7AFB1407C9BF24B0A5B3C81C1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 90
			 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Veterans
			 Affairs shall enter into a contract with the Institute of Medicine of the
			 National Academies to conduct an expanded study on the health impact of Project
			 Shipboard Hazard and Defense (Project SHAD).</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="id6E52B22FEB3D4F1B9E7881193D53FDD2"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Covered
			 veterans</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The study required
			 by subsection (a) shall include, to the extent practicable, all veterans who
			 participated in Project Shipboard Hazard and Defense.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="idFD71BBDCE0F14FCB949A40306050B179"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Utilization of
			 existing studies</header><text>The study required by subsection (a) may use
			 results from the study covered in the report entitled <quote>Long-Term Health
			 Effects of Participation in Project SHAD</quote> of the Institute of Medicine
			 of the National Academies.</text>
			</subsection></section></legis-body>
