		<official-title>To provide for judicial discretion regarding suspensions
		  of student eligibility under section 484(r) of the Higher Education Act of
		  1965.</official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Judicial discretion for
			 suspension of eligibility</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 484(r) of the Higher Education Act
			 of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1091(r)) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="id0474AF5F51C449EC89B513BF1A795263"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in paragraph (1), by striking <quote>A
			 student</quote> and inserting <quote>Subject to paragraph (3), a
			 student</quote>;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="id86F6828254F54B7A9799034B4BA076C0"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by redesignating
			 paragraph (3) as paragraph (4); and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="id31D84392EF5648E58E275C824244E66F"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting
			 after paragraph (2) the following:</text>

					<paragraph id="idD761E68CE4D44A53B9B8EC1F41F19D42"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Applicability</header><text>This
				subsection shall only apply to a student if the Federal or State court that
				convicted the student of an offense described in paragraph (1) has ordered that
				the student's eligibility for assistance under this title be suspended in
				accordance with this subsection.</text>
