		<official-title>To temporarily extend the programs under the Higher
		  Education Act of 1965. </official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short
			 title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as
			 the <quote><short-title>Higher Education Extension Act of
			 2008</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idB744A05473BA49919A0BA0DDAA3DC8EB" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Extension of programs</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2(a) of the Higher Education
			 Extension Act of 2005 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/109/81">Public Law 109–81</external-xref>;
			 <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1001">20 U.S.C.
			 1001</external-xref> note) is amended by striking <quote>March 31, 2008</quote>
			 and inserting <quote>April 30, 2008</quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id46DB6657FCE6488D823195C5DE9DD8FB" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>3.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Rule of construction</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Nothing in this Act, or in the Higher
			 Education Extension Act of 2005 as amended by this Act, shall be construed to
			 limit or otherwise alter the authorizations of appropriations for, or the
			 durations of, programs contained in the amendments made by the Higher Education
			 Reconciliation Act of 2005 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/109/171">Public Law
			 109–171</external-xref>) or by the College Cost Reduction and Access Act
			 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/110/84">Public Law
			 110–84</external-xref>) to the provisions of the Higher Education Act of 1965
			 and the Taxpayer-Teacher Protection Act of 2004.</text>
