		<official-title>To amend section 411h of title 37, United States Code, to
		  provide travel and transportation allowances for family members of members of
		  the uniformed services with serious inpatient psychiatric
		  conditions.</official-title>

		<section id="idB399B21120894DCC802B3B960180734D" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Travel and transportation of
			 family members incident to serious inpatient psychiatric conditions of members
			 of the uniformed services</header>
			<subsection id="id677B29A859C34F569F843DF1E9F6D8A6"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Paragraph (2)(B)(i)
			 of subsection (a) of section 411h of title 37, United States Code, is amended
			 by striking <quote>seriously injured, or in</quote> and inserting <quote>is
			 seriously injured, has a serious psychiatric condition and meets the conditions
			 set forth in paragraph (4), or is in</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="id2F3D30848E9F4EEFB361239375BDA2F7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conditions
			 applicable to servicemembers with serious psychiatric
			 conditions</header><text>Such subsection is further amended by adding at the
			 end the following new paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block act-name="" id="id613BF801E769470F92F8623587C6E53C" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="id7762EB18F8CB467AB216ADC81071BB12" indent="up1"><enum>(4)</enum><text>Travel and transportation described
				in subsection (c) may be provided under this subsection for family members of a
				member of the uniformed services described under paragraph (2) who has a
				serious psychiatric condition if the following conditions are met:</text>
						<subparagraph id="idE66B406655274ADD9FC67DD81A73A419"><enum>(A)</enum><text>The member is receiving treatment at a
				treatment facility located in the United States.</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="id6CDBF16F34B645FEAE384C2C0C0BFF6A"><enum>(B)</enum><text>The travel and transportation is
				provided pursuant to travel orders issued upon the recommendation of a
				physician, including a recommendation that the family presence would be helpful
				and beneficial to the treatment and recovery of the member.</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="id434C8E9E48EC4F7A8DFBFE88A8D3EBA1"><enum>(C)</enum><text>Safe and appropriate accommodations
				are made available to the family
				members.</text>
						</subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="idC7A4A1BEED9C47BA825180395118709F"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Serious
			 psychiatric condition defined</header><text>Subsection (b) of such section is
			 amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id974FDC7D30F2473DB4DCFB0CE6658CF4" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="idB95C0EBA36264E63B556091DCB700D28" indent="up1"><enum>(4)</enum><text>In this section, the term
				<term>serious psychiatric condition</term>, in the case of a member, means that
				the member has been diagnosed with a psychotic condition requiring
				hospitalization, has attempted suicide or exhibited suicidal behavior (as
				verified by appropriate medical personnel), or has been diagnosed with any
				other psychiatric condition that requires extensive medical treatment or
				hospitalization. A member placed within the Special Patient (SPEPAT) or Special
				Category (SPECCAT) casualty category is a member with a serious psychiatric
				condition for purposes of this
				section.</text>
