		<official-title>To amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to extend
		  eligibility for Federal TRIO programs to members of the reserve components
		  serving on active duty in support of contingency operations.</official-title>

		<section id="H717C8BE49B304FA0A74868BDAF5B1F63" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote>Veterans
			 Upward Bound Improvement Act</quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HE7967810C4FB4B1C909D7BD1D8DF7C4"><enum>2.</enum><header>Extension of
			 eligibility for Federal TRIO programs to members of the reserve components
			 serving on active duty in support of contingency operations</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 402A(g)(3) of the Higher Education
			 Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1070a-11">20
			 U.S.C. 1070a–11(g)(3)</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="HB3694064A98E40CDA210758712FBAB9"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in
			 subparagraph (A), by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H76C6F8860E894C519FFCF93DD978914"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in
			 subparagraph (B), by striking the period and inserting <quote>; or</quote>;
			 and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H8F38121A04134D0EBEDFCB0006BF00D6"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the
			 end the following new subparagraph (C):</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H6C8482ED203F4A88A5FFDB434D710008" style="OLC">
					<subparagraph id="H45E9C64522B343658E7FF56FCAACAB61"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">was a member of a reserve component of the
				Armed Forces who served on active duty in support of a contingency operation
				(as that term is defined in
				<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/10/101">section
				101(a)(13)</external-xref> of title 10, United States Code) on or after
				September 11,
				2001.</text>
