			 <quote><short-title>Fair Contracts for Growers Act of
			 2007</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDFA9E085C595845C584084629C63785E3" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Election of
			 arbitration</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID2B4CF2501A824065BEC0AE7C3EE5876C"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Chapter 1 of title 9,
			 United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID32B2BBC36D7543D19C9429EC971B82F9" style="USC">
					<section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID4B998D8ED7C04A42A903CD007E857DA3" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>17.</enum><header>Livestock and poultry
				contracts</header>
						<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID431B2875116247F8944C16005C502131"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section:</text>
							<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID94075220D1B247B89E0055E669C1F998"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Livestock</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>livestock</term> has the
				meaning given the term in section 2(a) of the Packers and Stockyards Act, 1921
				(<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/182(a)">7 U.S.C.
				182(a)</external-xref>).</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDBDD34FC8857B4D8A9E0172BEF748C44C"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Livestock or
				poultry contract</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term
				<term>livestock or poultry contract</term> means any growout contract,
				marketing agreement, or other arrangement under which a livestock or poultry
				grower raises and cares for livestock or poultry.</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDE3C5AC19486841FF987486ACBCB4B7C4"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Livestock or
				poultry grower</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term
				<term>livestock or poultry grower</term> means any person engaged in the
				business of raising and caring for livestock or poultry in accordance with a
				livestock or poultry contract, whether the livestock or poultry is owned by the
				person or by another person.</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDFB6AC60246354A698C6E354808CE5440"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Poultry</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>poultry</term> has the
				meaning given the term in section 2(a) of the Packers and Stockyards Act, 1921
				(<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/182(a)">7 U.S.C.
				182(a)</external-xref>).</text>
							</paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDEC01630A23494AF58209C269E48F216C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Consent to
				arbitration</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">If a livestock or
				poultry contract provides for the use of arbitration to resolve a controversy
				under the livestock or poultry contract, arbitration may be used to settle the
				controversy only if, after the controversy arises, both parties consent in
				writing to use arbitration to settle the controversy.</text>
						</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDE5942DD043684A19A6B231D41D90279C"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Explanation of
				basis for awards</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">If
				arbitration is elected to settle a dispute under a livestock or poultry
				contract, the arbitrator shall provide to the parties to the contract a written
				explanation of the factual and legal basis for the
				award.</text>
						</subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID79DD6160315749F68D5C1DB280133D62"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Technical and
			 conforming amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The
			 table of sections for chapter 1 of title 9, United States Code, is amended by
			 adding at the end the following:</text>

			</subsection></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID5307AD7033404ADAA7E949799F9D7698" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>3.</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The amendments made by
			 section 2 shall apply to a contract entered into, amended, altered, modified,
			 renewed, or extended after the date of enactment of this Act.</text>
