		<official-title>To authorize the Secretary of Agriculture to carry out a
		  competitive grant program for the Puget Sound area to provide comprehensive
		  conservation planning to address water quality.</official-title>

		<section id="HD223AB236B6B4072A4B16C5D869F04A4" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Puget Sound Watershed Comprehensive
			 Conservation Project Act of 2007</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H5AD2A3B3DA7547648EF22FE5F728A2AB"><enum>2.</enum><header>Comprehensive
			 conservation planning for Puget Sound area</header>
			<subsection id="HA8CF9646EBA34DFB967DADB899BC10F3"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Grant
			 program</header>
				<paragraph id="idA2FBA1EA875E4046BE95E595E0A598D1"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>The Secretary of Agriculture (referred to in this Act as
			 the <term>Secretary</term>) shall carry out a competitive grant program for the
			 Puget Sound area to provide comprehensive conservation planning to address
			 water quality.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="idBD0937529ECB47D6BFA34B965E318DFC"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Cooperative
			 agreements</header><text>The Secretary shall enter into cooperative agreements
			 with State and local governments, Indian tribes, or nongovernmental entities
			 with a history of working with agricultural producers to carry out projects
			 under the program.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H2898DB0790784863AB03F0489CEC31C5"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Assistance</header><text>In
			 carrying out the program, the Secretary may—</text>
				<paragraph id="H0EADBB6E15BF45A98C00951537000435"><enum>(1)</enum><text>provide project
			 demonstration grants and technical assistance and carry out information and
			 education programs to improve water quality in the Puget Sound area by reducing
			 soil erosion and improving sediment control; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HF4E74E2EFE0C4647928B9CB232B3E00"><enum>(2)</enum><text>provide a priority
			 for projects and activities that directly reduce soil erosion or improve water
			 quality.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H8CFA9F564D124AF48D6913B172EAD606"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Authorization of
			 appropriations</header><text>There is authorized to be appropriated to the
			 Secretary $5,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2008 through 2012 to carry out
			 the program.</text>
