		<official-title>To extend the existing provisions regarding the
		  eligibility for essential air service subsidies through fiscal year 2012, and
		  for other purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="idB4B998180D45478D8A8B76E8F13231F6" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Continuation of essential air
			 service at certain locations</header>
			<subsection id="id0FC0D64B3661405193BDCC99C43EA355"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 409(d) of the
			 Vision 100—Century of Aviation Reauthorization Act (Public Law 108–176; 49
			 U.S.C. 41731 note) is amended by striking <quote>September 30, 2007</quote> and
			 inserting <quote>September 30, 2012</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="id55A58B987114450CB7CBF1E1811524ED"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Requirement for
			 continuation of essential air service by certain air carriers for 90 days after
			 termination of contract</header><text>Any air carrier that provides essential
			 air service to a place described in section 409(a) of the Vision 100—Century of
			 Aviation Reauthorization Act (Public Law 108–176; 49 U.S.C. 41731 note) and has
			 a contract for the provision of such essential air service that expires on
			 September 30, 2007, shall continue to provide such essential air service to
			 such place until at least the earlier of—</text>
				<paragraph id="id49B18D3BF6D543678A2C1B3BBC582ABC"><enum>(1)</enum><text>January 1, 2008;
			 or</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="id84AEF5EE92814B21AAE4FFE54FB7E63B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the date on which
			 the Secretary of Transportation identifies a new air carrier to provide such
			 essential air service.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id0C91DF12B7AC498391C370B56EEEAA70"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Air carrier
			 defined</header><text>In this section, the term <term>air carrier</term> has
			 the meaning provided such term in section 40102 of title 49, United States
			 Code.</text>
