		<official-title display="yes">To require periodic reports on claims
		  related to acts of terrorism against Americans perpetrated or supported by the
		  Government of Libya.</official-title>

	<legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H3D8C76284E304EA08183A998E3885FE2" style="OLC">
		<section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Periodic reports on claims related to acts
			 of terrorism against Americans perpetrated or supported by the Government of
			 Libya</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idB97A2114871A4C2B9EA7565B630838ED"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Reports required</header>
				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id26F98C95196345F3B2EB7CDA8F991DB1"><enum>(1)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 60 days after the date of
			 enactment of this Act, and every 180 days thereafter until December 31, 2009,
			 or the Secretary of State makes the certification under subsection (b), the
			 Secretary of State shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a
			 report on unresolved claims by nationals of the United States against the
			 Government of Libya for acts described in <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/28/1605">section 1605(a)(7)</external-xref> of title 28,
			 United States Code.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id7503EF6EF170494BA3A165E1312948D2"><enum>(2)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Content</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Each report submitted under paragraph (1)
			 shall include—</text>
					<subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id9A037EEEB2514497B6406F88A0534750"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">information on the status of negotiations
			 between the Government of Libya and the United States claimants;</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idA99F183B0B014C4E832804B1549CF09D"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">a description of the specific actions that
			 the United States Government is taking to encourage the Government of Libya to
			 resolve such claims; and</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id60AA67109BBB4E8B8057410DD934539F"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">any other information that the Secretary of
			 State considers appropriate.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idFCA2CD9381FA42D68366AE60134BE094"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Certification</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The certification referred to in paragraph
			 (1) of subsection (a) is a certification submitted by the Secretary of State to
			 the appropriate congressional committees that all claims by nationals of the
			 United States described in such paragraph have been resolved.</text>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id9B75B0C3DA5F4ABBAE04AEC8CEF165C3"><enum>(c)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section:</text>
				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id270BA1D934634D15A305349ADD36752F"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>appropriate congressional
			 committees</term> means—</text>
					<subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id269AEDE8E8DA4357A666695E65B13BEC"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Committee on Foreign Relations, the
			 Committee on Armed Services, and the Committee on Appropriations of the Senate;
			 and</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idE8169DC79B064785943DC781A7254BC5"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the
			 Committee on Armed Services, and the Committee on Appropriations of the House
			 of Representatives.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idD0975B3B0B8942F39464268664463013"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>national of the United
			 States</term> has the meaning given the term in section 101(a)(22) of the
			 <act-name>Immigration and Nationality Act</act-name> (8 U.S.C.
			 1101(a)(22)).</text>
				</paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body>
