		<official-title>To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a
		  special resource study to determine the suitability and feasibility of
		  including the battlefield and related sites of the Battle of Shepherdstown in
		  Shepherdstown, West Virginia, as part of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park
		  or Antietam National Battlefield, and for other purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>National Park System special
			 resource study, Shepherdstown battlefield, West Virginia</header>
			<subsection id="ID753f590967264eea8a831170ff53a24b"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Special
			 resources study</header><text>The Secretary of the Interior (referred to in
			 this Act as the <quote>Secretary</quote>) shall conduct a special resource
			 study relating to the Battle of Shepherdstown in Shepherdstown, West Virginia,
			 to evaluate—</text>
				<paragraph id="H78C58DC9590D4595B2543C065D0900A"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the national
			 significance of the Shepherdstown battlefield and sites relating to the
			 Shepherdstown battlefield; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H58CA365EB0514E1186A75706697CC4D5"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the suitability and feasibility of adding
			 the Shepherdstown battlefield and sites relating to the Shepherdstown
			 battlefield as part of—</text>
					<subparagraph id="id195E05E9CE4947179FAB6A02E29FDAAE"><enum>(A)</enum><text>Harpers Ferry
			 National Historical Park; or</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="id7FB926BCBE1B4C308E8D09AD9EF78323"><enum>(B)</enum><text>Antietam National
			 Battlefield.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="IDf01da118ca814057a93bd80f28ee3451"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Criteria</header><text>In
			 conducting the study authorized under subsection (a), the Secretary shall use
			 the criteria for the study of areas for potential inclusion in the National
			 Park System contained in
			 <deleted-phrase committee-id="SSEG00" reported-display-style="strikethrough">section 8(a) of Public Law 91–383 (16
			 U.S.C. 1a–5(a))</deleted-phrase><added-phrase committee-id="SSEG00" reported-display-style="italic">section 8(c) of Public Law 91–383 (16 U.S.C.
			 1a–5(c))</added-phrase>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="IDe8bcafe426d1452ea7f26390f3dbc4a0"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Report</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 3 years after the date on
			 which funds are made available to carry out this Act, the Secretary shall
			 submit to the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate and the
			 Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives a report
			 containing the findings, conclusions, and recommendations of the study
			 conducted under subsection (a).</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="ID70dc911892094ce8a2c2043ab00ee1f0"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Authorization
			 of appropriations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">There are
			 authorized to be appropriated such sums as are necessary to carry out this
			 section.</text>
