		<official-title display="yes">To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986
		  to exclude from gross income certain combat zone compensation of civilian
		  employees of the United States.</official-title>

		<section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H9B9FB29E95C24509B78BB6938400ACA6" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Federal Employee Combat Zone Tax
			 Parity Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HD630335907AB4C9BB4AA98F725059D21" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Exclusion from gross income for certain
			 combat zone compensation of civilian employees of the United States</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HFFCFA5F98A05440C8E2BC691BFE089A0"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 112 of the Internal Revenue Code of
			 1986 (relating to certain combat zone compensation of members of the Armed
			 Forces) is amended by redesignating subsections (c) and (d) as subsections (d)
			 and (e), respectively, and by inserting after subsection (b) the following new
			 subsection:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H056D64D54C814716BF7BDFC11D575EB0" style="OLC">
					<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H69065EF919F149829B7311EC9C409357"><enum>(c)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Civilian employees of the United States
				Government</header>
						<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF4A680A5D50B4080AE00294EF207601F"><enum>(1)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Gross income does not include so much of
				the compensation as does not exceed the maximum amount specified in subsection
				(b) for active service as an employee of the United States for any month during
				any part of which such employee—</text>
							<subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H06ED91B103FA409DB909B46CD2518F2D"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">served in a combat zone, or</text>
							</subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H2A76A58317964F7D985EB6374EB8FCF"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">was hospitalized as a result of wounds,
				disease, or injury incurred while serving in a combat zone; but this
				subparagraph shall not apply for any month beginning more than 2 years after
				the date of the termination of combatant activities in such zone.</text>
							</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HC636D726AE9E45E1BD1617F179AED279"><enum>(2)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For purposes of this subsection—</text>
							<subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H5E383E57DDEF46C6999C57FEEA4D3E6"><enum>(A)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Employee of the United States</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>employee of the United
				States</term> has the meaning given such term by section 2105 of title 5,
				United States Code, and includes—</text>
								<clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H3A328E3703A0481DA26168007B2F7F28"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">an individual in the commissioned corps of
				the Public Health Service or the commissioned corps of the National Oceanic and
				Atmospheric Administration, and</text>
								</clause><clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H56D411A0802B457891AF5BC6694B8B7F"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">an individual not otherwise described in
				the preceding provisions of this subparagraph who is treated as an employee of
				the United States or an agency thereof for purposes of section 911(b).</text>
								</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H3202E59AAB024D33AF11AB5CFDFFDFA"><enum>(B)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Active
				service</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>active
				service</term> means active Federal service by an employee of the United
				States.</text>
							</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H554360D720FD43D491AA4C768260E944"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Conforming amendments</header>
				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB4F80A6464A74D06B55ED83BED2F1B60"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 2201(b) of such Code is amended by
			 striking <quote>112(c)</quote> both places it appears and inserting
			 <quote>112(d)</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HAD5992D2DD8A4D0595AD44BC70FA9B39"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The heading for section 112 of such Code is
			 amended to read as follows:</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HAE4C153EF7D043D18D626B2D201478D7"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The item relating to section 112 in the
			 table of sections for part III of subchapter B of chapter 1 of such Code is
			 amended to read as follows:</text>

				</paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE6EAAB3FEAF64A44A9493DD8BE1FFF4"><enum>(c)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Effective
			 date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by
			 this section shall apply to taxable years beginning after the date of the
			 enactment of this Act.</text>
