		<section id="H5373477E7BE64481BF3082B8C3BFEBD" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote>Genomic
			 Research and Accessibility Act</quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HF6D51955B2CD40FEB55DF555F03DF8E2"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibition on
			 patent of human genetic material</header>
			<subsection id="H8B8C3B67AD3246F686CE9BB871D749B2"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/35/10">Chapter 10</external-xref> of title 35, United States Code, is amended by
			 adding at the end the following new section:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HA84E255A52904C0FBF6269CE62002191" style="USC">
					<section id="H9C5E48F445294C7CA5303227D3D4B9F2"><enum>106.</enum><header>Prohibition on
				patent of human genetic material</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Notwithstanding any other provision of law,
				no patent may be obtained for a nucleotide sequence, or its functions or
				correlations, or the naturally occurring products it
				specifies.</text>

			</subsection><subsection id="H05D6269E23DB4A1EA52F50C3DBF217D4"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Table of
			 contents</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The table of
			 sections of <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/35/10">chapter 10</external-xref> of title 35, United States Code, is amended by adding at
			 the end the following:</text>

			</subsection><subsection id="H031719F3736047F8BCF38E085FCFE9DF"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Applicability</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendment made by subsection (a) shall
			 not apply to a patent issued before the date of the enactment of this
			 Act.</text>
