		<section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H60B25B7DED66457FBBB8704F8D71C443" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Mesa Verde National Park Boundary
			 Expansion Act of 2007</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HD771B908318B4E5ABF542721D74957F9" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Findings; purposes</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H55A127F7B4CC43B0BB09042EF525B41D"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Findings</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Congress finds that—</text>
				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB0320FD04E734B8FBDCC7C60C6398145"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">on June 29, 1906, Mesa Verde National Park
			 was established as the first national park in the United States to preserve the
			 works of humanity;</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H31542DEEE89749E39E5F2DC0E7C86FE3"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">on September 6, 1978, Mesa Verde National
			 Park became the first World Heritage Site designated in the United States;
			 and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H106D2807954A48A1BD5C38EBE74C4147"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Mesa Verde National Park protects some of
			 the best preserved and notable archeological sites of the ancient Puebloan
			 culture that flourished in the southwestern United States from approximately
			 600–1300, including the elaborate stone villages in the sheltered alcoves of
			 the canyon walls referred to as <quote>cliff dwellings</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HDCA3E5842E2F4337B5AA80F985F3B5CD"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Purposes</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The purposes of this Act are—</text>
				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HFA48D8EF0C7D4A2D9FDD3B49E3687CAF"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">to modify the boundary of Mesa Verde
			 National Park—</text>
					<subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H1639D886F7FD4788A4E73CB3B000BDC9"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">to protect the archeological sites located
			 on property adjacent to the Park boundary;</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H68DF4FF951D04A8BA29B8D6E28C2EA15"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">to extend and expand the knowledge and
			 understanding of the ancient Puebloan culture, a major influence in the
			 development of the southwestern United States;</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H9F2171D2B1794E00B65817922EA10020"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">to protect from potential development the
			 scenic and biological value of the pinyon-juniper covered hills that—</text>
						<clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H5361136DCB3F4FFB88588E3999B59FE4"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">border the Park; and</text>
						</clause><clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H6255E41E5017414FA236BE08706768DC"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">are in full view of the Park entrance road;
			 and</text>
						</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H1CFF40E2536E435D90C34DB48600FDBB"><enum>(D)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">to protect the largest recorded colony of
			 the globally imperiled Gray’s Townsend Daisy, to ensure continuation of a major
			 wildlife corridor, and to protect important habitat for wildlife; and</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H263EDFB98C6D4DCB80B9006705495204"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">to provide greater opportunities to
			 visitors, researchers, and surrounding communities to understand and appreciate
			 the natural environment of Mesa Verde and the contributions of the ancient
			 Puebloan culture to the region by providing the land required to construct a
			 contemporary museum collections storage facility and visitor orientation
			 center.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H413E7BEFB65B40D48D598744A3B8D094" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>3.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act:</text>
			<paragraph id="H98D31C21D4EA400C8CFAF7097FCAC249"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Map</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>map</quote> means the map
			 entitled <quote>Mesa Verde National Park Proposed Boundary Adjustment</quote>,
			 numbered 307/80,180, and dated March 1, 2007.</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H7A7DC3D656B8416E8DE4D5B0080E5F4"><enum>(2)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Park</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>Park</quote> means the Mesa
			 Verde National Park in the State of Colorado.</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB8B106AA62DD409FB04094B4C4CB690"><enum>(3)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Secretary</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>Secretary</quote> means the
			 Secretary of the Interior.</text>
			</paragraph></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H6B7E4E05B735465BBB25BDD73002BAF" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>4.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Mesa verde national park</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H1BEEE24B8ABB43FCA595C787E2F2CBD1"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Acquisition of land</header>
				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H56C44FAF522D484CBAA0DB96525EE3E3"><enum>(1)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary may acquire the land or an
			 interest in the land described in subsection (b) for addition to the
			 Park.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HFF7E6F85E05F4F8CBAA81593902785FE"><enum>(2)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Means</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">An acquisition of land under paragraph (1)
			 may be made by donation, purchase from a willing seller with donated or
			 appropriated funds, or exchange.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H6E056A1EAD9F4846ABD5A41C18F5176F"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Description of land</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The land referred to in subsection (a)(1)
			 is the approximately 360 acres of land adjacent to the Park, as generally
			 depicted on the map.</text>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HAA2A1B49C57A4C06A094EFF691968778"><enum>(c)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Availability of map</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The map shall be on file and available for
			 inspection in the appropriate offices of the National Park Service.</text>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H579634966E574FCE89C660572ED4B7AC"><enum>(d)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Boundary modification</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The boundary of the Park shall be revised
			 to reflect the acquisition of the land under subsection (a).</text>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H35CCE7145377406B9CC6E2EA3C9FD57C"><enum>(e)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Administration</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary shall administer any land or
			 interest in land acquired under subsection (a)(1) as part of the Park in
			 accordance with the laws (including regulations) applicable to the Park.</text>
			</subsection></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H9B7A9A97435A42499BC110012FFE1806" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>5.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Authorization of
			 appropriations</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">There are
			 authorized to be appropriated such sums as are necessary to carry out this
			 Act.</text>
