		<official-title>To amend the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 to
		  allow employees to take, as additional leave, parental involvement leave to
		  participate in or attend their children’s and grandchildren’s educational and
		  extracurricular activities and to clarify that leave may be taken for routine
		  family medical needs and to assist elderly relatives, and for other
		  purposes.</official-title>

		<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HAD83B25B393D4BAF8F3B2B2CDFA52F69" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Family and Medical Leave Enhancement
			 Act of 2008</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HBA117ABB84E0450BB92E9499FC2DCF13"><enum>2.</enum><header>Eligible
			 employee</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 101(2)(B)(ii)
			 of the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2611">29 U.S.C. 2611(2)(B)(ii)</external-xref>) is
			 amended by striking <quote>less than 50</quote> each place it appears and
			 inserting <quote>fewer than 25</quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H7452DDFBCE974544B04F44A55681ED8C"><enum>3.</enum><header>Entitlement to
			 additional leave for parental involvement</header>
			<subsection id="H2C9D78A6C1EF4691BE75ACD0CED4AE00"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Leave
			 requirement</header><text>Section 102(a) of the Family and Medical Leave Act of
			 1993 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2612">29 U.S.C. 2612(a)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following new
			 paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block id="HFD58ED16972E4A28AFF61C3DF3CFB81">
					<paragraph id="H7B33C6EED8AB464BA5647ED3C5061466"><enum>(5)</enum><header>Entitlement to
				additional leave for parental involvement</header>
						<subparagraph id="HDAD55A697AC049208B1C4337329414B2"><enum>(A)</enum><header>In
				general</header><text>Subject to subparagraph (B) and section 103(g), an
				eligible employee shall be entitled to leave under this paragraph to
				participate in or attend an activity that—</text>
							<clause id="H52A0E166C9E043A291887FC9F12A87E"><enum>(i)</enum><text>is
				sponsored by a school or community organization; and</text>
							</clause><clause id="H2AA1A99B527F472F9C1275E12EBE8BE1"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>relates to a
				program of the school or organization that is attended by a son or daughter or
				a grandchild of the employee.</text>
							</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H2CA3749855AF40D692C7A44A9FC2460"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Limitations</header>
							<clause id="H1C073B209B704317A81B9DE7CCC8634E"><enum>(i)</enum><header>In
				general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">An eligible employee
				is entitled to—</text>
								<subclause id="HD3ACE449B7C94BB5AC3348741EECA714"><enum>(I)</enum><text>not to exceed 4
				hours of leave under this paragraph during any 30-day period; and</text>
								</subclause><subclause id="H4BC2C13F90264ED88064D2F100B75300"><enum>(II)</enum><text>not to exceed 24
				hours of leave under this paragraph during any 12-month period.</text>
								</subclause></clause><clause id="H7FE0586BE3C94367A71029273EA8464F"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Coordination
				rule</header><text>Leave under this paragraph shall be in addition to any leave
				provided under any other paragraph of this subsection.</text>
							</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HFFCEAF02F1674AE5B73BE9BC460791E8"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>As
				used in this paragraph:</text>
							<clause id="H24FE03C7DC13414B89002FC05A2DD1B"><enum>(i)</enum><header>School</header><text>The
				term <term>school</term> means an elementary school or secondary school (as
				such terms are defined in section 9101 of the <act-name parsable-cite="ESEA">Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965</act-name>
				(<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/7801">20 U.S.C. 7801</external-xref>)), a Head Start program assisted under the
				<act-name parsable-cite="HSA">Head Start Act</act-name> (42 U.S.C. 9831 et
				seq.), and a child care facility licensed under State law.</text>
							</clause><clause id="H56B85A02106D459D8121C4D101159700"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Community
				organization</header><text>The term <term>community organization</term> means a
				private nonprofit organization that is representative of a community or a
				significant segment of a community and provides activities for individuals
				described in subparagraph (A) or (B) of section 101(12), such as a scouting or
				sports
				organization.</text>
							</clause></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="HC1C72180A4AF4623A14E0008BE2DAA75"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Schedule</header><text>Section
			 102(b)(1) of such Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2612">29 U.S.C. 2612(b)(1)</external-xref>) is amended by inserting after the
			 third sentence the following new sentence: <quote>Leave under subsection (a)(5)
			 may be taken intermittently or on a reduced leave schedule.</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HDCB6BBF2D4474398AB5E6229AD3F84FF"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Substitution of
			 paid leave</header><text>Section 102(d)(2) of such Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2612">29 U.S.C. 2612(d)(2)</external-xref>)
			 is amended by adding at the end the following new subparagraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H288501629C794976BC5100ACD844DD0" style="USC">
					<subparagraph id="HED6121BA676F4A17AF6D839366DB9FA6"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Parental
				involvement leave</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">An eligible
				employee may elect, or an employer may require the employee, to substitute any
				of the accrued paid vacation leave, personal leave, or family leave of the
				employee for any leave under subsection
				(a)(5).</text>
					</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H9F3BE7A2023F4018B3BF9007934E4CDE"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Notice</header><text>Section
			 102(e) of such Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2612">29 U.S.C. 2612(e)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the
			 following new paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB5D76843105048618E685410D0E3BD6B" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="HA40E453B149748C8ACD77789D4A34305"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Notice relating
				to parental involvement leave</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In any case in which an employee requests
				leave under paragraph (5) of subsection (a), the employee shall provide the
				employer with not less than 7 days’ notice, before the date the leave is to be
				taken, of the employee’s intention to take leave under such
				paragraph.</text>
					</paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H49B3E4A8A8CA42D788EBF0D01D2AC6C"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Spouses employed
			 by the same employer</header><text>Section 102(f) of such Act (29 U.S.C.
			 2612(f)) is amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H136F738953D94B6EBAAC344389F29513" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="H6E64DB20B1F64B8397AC4CB748A9008F"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Parental
				involvement leave</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In any case
				in which a husband and wife entitled to leave under paragraph (5) of subsection
				(a) are employed by the same employer, the aggregate amount of leave to which
				both may be entitled under such paragraph may be limited to—</text>
						<subparagraph id="H4C70401AEB8E4C989ECB3BA6A3414BE4"><enum>(A)</enum><text>4 hours during the
				same 30-day period; and</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HEAED5D0EA74B4ADF9060DC41EAAEB8B7"><enum>(B)</enum><text>24 hours during
				the same 12-month
				period.</text>
						</subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H83E2A48395EB40F9998206BE16976F05"><enum>(f)</enum><header>Certification</header><text>Section
			 103 of such Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2613">29 U.S.C. 2613</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following
			 new subsection:</text>
				<quoted-block id="H46486777454042AD9DF6B5E3FD2739B3">
					<subsection id="H7FA2E88B9FB54163B82BBFB94BDA125"><enum>(g)</enum><header>Certification
				related to parental involvement leave</header><text>An employer may require
				that a request for leave under section 102(a)(5) be supported by a
				certification issued at such time and in such manner as the Secretary may by
				regulation
				prescribe.</text>
					</subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection></section><section id="H3312427B08304A3D8F7F2E94AC65D1ED"><enum>4.</enum><header>Entitlement of
			 Federal employees to leave for parental involvement</header>
			<subsection id="H27B3047F46D64CCAAFB47504B5BAFE18"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Leave
			 requirement</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/6382">Section 6382(a)</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code, is
			 amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block id="H83EDFF3C8C8A4CD4B4A377D05BFA1C00">
					<paragraph id="H45644956C24144B89BE94420B068A954" indent="up1"><enum>(5)</enum><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="HC4490C06514046AD9255F9CE29DD7C9"><enum>(A)</enum><text>Subject to subparagraph
				(B)(i) and section 6383(f), an employee shall be entitled to leave under this
				paragraph to participate in or attend an activity that—</text>
							<clause id="HA5088A5FFB21466FB360BE909D3B02ED" indent="up1"><enum>(i)</enum><text>is sponsored by a school or community
				organization; and</text>
							</clause><clause id="H8E791BF85D7B45E694483C554E000084" indent="up1"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>relates to a program of the school or
				organization that is attended by a son or daughter or a grandchild of the
				employee.</text>
							</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H3A986F4F6DBF4FB799E738CEA66FC026" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><clause commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H5A622ABD2EA34BA4A375B18820500786"><enum>(i)</enum><text>An employee is entitled
				to—</text>
								<subclause id="H952A568940E24C2090B1BE799C79A72" indent="up1"><enum>(I)</enum><text>not to exceed 4 hours of leave under
				this paragraph during any 30-day period; and</text>
								</subclause><subclause id="HD0B7A2D1A7954471B865CE009F59A223" indent="up1"><enum>(II)</enum><text>not to exceed 24 hours of leave under
				this paragraph during any 12-month period.</text>
								</subclause></clause><clause id="HB890F63C61DC4A7285EC346CE09E5BC" indent="up1"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Leave under this paragraph shall be in
				addition to any leave provided under any other paragraph of this
				subsection.</text>
							</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H4E8249ECC04343E593B84C99EE507200" indent="up1"><enum>(C)</enum><text>For the purpose of this
				paragraph—</text>
							<clause id="H608F2D9CD0354225AF5EABD0FD68BE00"><enum>(i)</enum><text>the term <term>school</term> means an
				elementary school or secondary school (as such terms are defined in section
				9101 of the <act-name parsable-cite="ESEA">Elementary and Secondary Education
				Act of 1965)</act-name>, a Head Start program assisted under the
				<act-name parsable-cite="HSA">Head Start Act</act-name>, and a child care
				facility licensed under State law; and</text>
							</clause><clause id="HB9FBDF6B007A4F0F803F42C700E23753"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>the term <term>community
				organization</term> means a private nonprofit organization that is
				representative of a community or a significant segment of a community and
				provides activities for individuals described in subparagraph (A) or (B) of
				section 6381(6), such as a scouting or sports
				organization.</text>
							</clause></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H518380CE9516451EB6CA1BAD9B5BE1F8"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Schedule</header><text>Section
			 6382(b)(1) of such title is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H54F4692D44CF465884F0B0B7DE877951"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by inserting after
			 the second sentence the following new sentence: <quote>Leave under subsection
			 (a)(5) may be taken intermittently or on a reduced leave schedule.</quote>;
			 and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H7638C1DF400A4CC283662C2FFDD8A8B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in
			 the last sentence, by striking <quote>involved,</quote> and inserting
			 <quote>involved (or, in the case of leave under subsection (a)(5), for purposes
			 of any 30-day or 12-month period),</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H6F5179DE03CE48D198E44204580B5D8"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Substitution of
			 paid leave</header><text>Section 6382(d) of such title is amended by adding at
			 the end the following new sentence: <quote>An employee may elect to substitute
			 for leave under subsection (a)(5), any of the employee’s accrued or accumulated
			 annual leave under subchapter I.</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H5021A9BFA9364E53984100BED0E7A307"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Notice</header><text>Section
			 6382(e) of such title is amended by adding at the end the following new
			 paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H8D2980BAB77C476688CD97F3F71E6141" style="USC">
					<paragraph id="H0FF5B9ADC6344A3D93E8641CFE0090A4" indent="up1"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In any case in which an employee requests
				leave under paragraph (5) of subsection (a), the employee shall provide the
				employing agency with not less than 7 days’ notice, before the date the leave
				is to be taken, of the employee’s intention to take leave under such
				paragraph.</text>
					</paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="HEE8064A154C242A6AC4906EAB300FBF9"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Certification</header><text>Section
			 6383(f) of such title is amended by striking <quote>6382(a)(3)</quote> and
			 inserting <quote>paragraph (3) or (5) of section 6382(a)</quote>.</text>
			</subsection></section><section id="HE1ABDCC4B9D14F72B9430202A93E7C87"><enum>5.</enum><header>Clarification of
			 entitlement to leave</header>
			<subsection id="H38DC1082D268481D8835C61E66D5BA6F"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header>
				<paragraph id="HB5B1DFC4C01A4A5D94537BC65304E8B"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Family and
			 Medical Leave Act of 1993</header><text>Section 102(a)(1) of the Family and
			 Medical Leave Act of 1993 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2612">29 U.S.C. 2612(a)(1)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the
			 end the following new subparagraphs:</text>
					<quoted-block id="H468EF39DDA4A461EB1CDC3939F59D5BE">
						<subparagraph id="HDC35E743C4724370B5990941606BE643"><enum>(F)</enum><text>In order to meet
				routine family medical care needs, including transportation of a son, daughter,
				or grandchild for medical and dental appointments for annual checkups and
				vaccinations.</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HAC7A84694AD04DC4A758C583FEE3AB63"><enum>(G)</enum><text>In order to meet
				the routine family medical care needs of elderly individuals who are related to
				the eligible employee, including visits to nursing homes and group
				homes.</text>
						</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HB8D47AC6E7F546B890AA5700D44B6064"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Title
			 5</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/6382">Section 6382(a)(1)</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code, is amended
			 by adding at the end the following new subparagraphs:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H78F8D4D80E8F40A300F5B21E18A9B6CD" style="USC">
						<subparagraph id="HA73CF129640F45B89E942C2B7CCBEE54" indent="up1"><enum>(E)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In
				order to meet routine family medical care needs, including transportation of a
				son, daughter, or grandchild for medical and dental appointments for annual
				checkups and vaccinations.</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H2E61782F76B64ACE973465E093CD00FE" indent="up1"><enum>(F)</enum><text>In order to meet the routine family
				medical care needs of elderly individuals who are related to the employee,
				including visits to nursing homes and group
				homes.</text>
						</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HC92FB024B08A4741947120C8FBF52E00"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Schedule</header>
				<paragraph id="HFEFB2167D3CB40FB8B83E0339100FFE"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Family and
			 Medical Leave Act of 1993</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The
			 first sentence of section 102(b)(1) of such Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2612">29 U.S.C. 2612(b)(1)</external-xref>) is
			 amended by striking <quote>subparagraph (A) or (B)</quote> and inserting
			 <quote>subparagraph (A), (B), (F), or (G)</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H43FD889123EF46D48460045818EAC845"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Title
			 5</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The first sentence of
			 section 6382(b)(1) of such title is amended by striking <quote>subparagraph (A)
			 or (B)</quote> and inserting <quote>subparagraph (A), (B), (E), or
			 (F)</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H55787EB3584F4EA19BE1BD71879D5D34"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Substitution of
			 paid leave</header>
				<paragraph id="H078C03D3E0A14B869B96D9C4BBB0836"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Family and
			 Medical Leave Act of 1993</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 102(d)(2) of such Act (29 U.S.C.
			 2612(d)(2)) is amended by adding after subparagraph (C) (as added by section
			 3(c)) the following new subparagraph:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H895B6A893A55410BB1BB43B08B292549" style="OLC">
						<subparagraph id="H6D59E557A9754ACE86FB80B8FC519F39"><enum>(D)</enum><header>Routine family
				medical care needs</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">An
				eligible employee may elect, or an employer may require the employee, to
				substitute any of the accrued paid vacation leave, personal leave, or medical
				or sick leave of the employee for leave provided under subparagraph (F) or (G)
				of subsection (a)(1) for any part of the 12-week period of such leave under
				such subsection, except that nothing in this title shall require an employer to
				provide paid sick leave or paid medical leave in any situation in which such
				employer would not normally provide any such paid
				leave.</text>
						</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HA5C7F5150DA4430289DCE642B613C9EF"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Title
			 5</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 6382(d) of such
			 title is amended by striking <quote>or (D)</quote> and inserting <quote>(D),
			 (E), or (F)</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HBF3A9EED39C84943A85934F6F007CAF"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Notice</header>
				<paragraph id="H1B18131EDCDE4250BE8963F30642D22F"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Family and
			 Medical Leave Act of 1993</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 102(e) of such Act (29 U.S.C.
			 2612(e)) is amended by adding after paragraph (4) (as added by section 3(d))
			 the following new paragraph:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE3CCA955E34040018F1DA19061300F" style="OLC">
						<paragraph id="H70EFF0669BB148B4A7D42E7458511763"><enum>(5)</enum><header>Routine family
				medical care needs</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In any
				case in which the necessity for leave under subparagraph (F) or (G) of
				subsection (a)(1) is foreseeable based on a planned appointment, visit, or
				other commitment, the employee—</text>
							<subparagraph id="H36B210010546498B95127108A0F562CA"><enum>(A)</enum><text>shall make a
				reasonable effort to schedule the leave so as not to disrupt unduly the
				operations of the employer, subject to the approval of the health care provider
				involved (if any); and</text>
							</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H03DCDE11D6814396BB12F600F54B7471"><enum>(B)</enum><text>shall provide the
				employer with not less than 30 days’ notice, before the day the leave is to be
				taken, of the employee’s intention to take leave under such subparagraph,
				except that if the leave is to be taken in less than 30 days, the employee
				shall provide such notice as is
				practicable.</text>
							</subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HE70CC9DB01D64F8CB6D0AB7795A100EA"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Title
			 5</header><text>Section 6382(e) of such title is amended by adding after
			 paragraph (3) (as added by section 4(d)) the following new paragraph:</text>

						<paragraph id="H363ED45056E24FC8AFC2FB4680D1EBCC"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In any case in which the necessity for
				leave under subparagraph (E) or (F) of subsection (a)(1) is foreseeable based
				on a planned appointment, visit, or other commitment, the employee—</text>
							<subparagraph id="H5B16E9EFCC914BF1A4453CBCF9923764"><enum>(A)</enum><text>shall make a
				reasonable effort to schedule the leave so as not to disrupt unduly the
				operations of the employer, subject to the approval of the health care provider
				involved (if any); and</text>
							</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HE99BF6CE2A434EDFB48500C050ED8CC1"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">shall provide the employer with not less
				than 30 days’ notice, before the day the leave is to be taken, of the
				employee’s intention to take leave under such subparagraph, except that if the
				leave is to be taken in less than 30 days, the employee shall provide such
				notice as is
				practicable.</text>
							</subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H456FF7BAABCF40AD989984511BB2A9B2"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Spouses employed
			 by same employer</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section
			 102(f)(1) of the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2612">29 U.S.C. 2612(f)(1)</external-xref>) is
			 amended by striking <quote>subparagraph (A) or (B)</quote> and inserting
			 <quote>subparagraph (A), (B), (F), or (G)</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H4364A06ED9C74DE6BDE3A81FFA29E8BF"><enum>(f)</enum><header>Certification</header>
				<paragraph id="H6FC7E6E8FD074EAFA83C9568E9A9B28"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Family and
			 Medical Leave Act of 1993</header><text>Section 103(g) of such Act, as added by
			 section 3(f), is amended by striking <quote>102(a)(5)</quote> and inserting
			 <quote>paragraph (1)(F), (1)(G), or (5) of section 102(a)</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H589A0466B6CB405A0021E542031419A5"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Title
			 5</header><text>Section 6383(f) of such title (as amended by section 4(e)) is
			 further amended by striking <quote>paragraph (3) or (5)</quote> (as inserted by
			 section 4(e)) and inserting the following: <quote>paragraph (1)(E), (1)(F),
			 (3), or (5)</quote>.</text>

			 grandchild</header>
			<subsection id="H9AF1FB5724F541C9A5B78BD9193158D"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Non-civil-service
			 employees</header><text>Section 101 of the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993
			 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2611">29 U.S.C. 2611</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following new
			 paragraph:</text>
