		<section id="HF1526695E2B2406A838CCAA6CBA5835D" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Promoting the Safe Use of the Internet by Students Act of
			 2008</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HC0A89AB8D1934022A59B00DA9E862C72"><enum>2.</enum><header>Promoting the
			 safe use of the Internet by students</header>
			<subsection id="H8E04A49A15D04E31BCABC8EDA8B07EA7"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Enhancing
			 education through technology</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 2416(b) of the Elementary and
			 Secondary Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/6766">20 U.S.C. 6766(b)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the
			 end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB107CD675EC24892B48D73E2A9EA734F" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="H83ED5CBF932D4163B24605DCF01F2FBB"><enum>(11)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Developing and implementing programs that
				promote the safe use of the Internet by students, such as programs that—</text>
						<subparagraph id="H014FE694457040E99FE973F56B003CB4"><enum>(A)</enum><text>educate students
				about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with individuals on
				social networking Web sites and in chat rooms;</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H64C87CD663B34384BAE933FB8EBED84"><enum>(B)</enum><text>protect students
				against online predators, cyberbullying, or unwanted exposure to inappropriate
				material; or</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HC721000452B64576B71FFC2CF7016B05"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">promote involvement by parents in the use
				of the Internet by their
				children.</text>
						</subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H17EB48000B22467AAD61B600B4C2C43"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Safe and
			 drug-free schools and communities</header><text>Section 4115(b)(2)(E) of the
			 Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/7115">20 U.S.C. 7115(b)(2)(E)</external-xref>) is
			 amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB3D0026AFC0746C2A0DF72B337F0DA79" style="OLC">
					<clause id="H956B82E1E3314C0D8B3C671EE1132963"><enum>(xxiii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Developing and implementing programs that
				promote the safe use of the Internet by students, such as programs that—</text>
						<subclause id="H70BFE974AAEA442FA3BBC18C7CB0C9D9"><enum>(I)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">educate students about appropriate online
				behavior, including interacting with individuals on social networking Web sites
				and in chat rooms;</text>
						</subclause><subclause id="H309ED22CA4314303ABB3B8056C10B3F"><enum>(II)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">protect students against online predators,
				cyberbullying, or unwanted exposure to inappropriate material; or</text>
						</subclause><subclause id="HA974BAB1E62745D8AAD0E938D9C67361"><enum>(III)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">promote involvement by parents in the use
				of the Internet by their
				children.</text>
