		<official-title>To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide an
		  exclusion from gross income for AmeriCorps educational awards.</official-title>

		<section id="H63BBC2B5DD3D41CAB2F0856CD6B25D57" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Segal AmeriCorps Education Award Tax
			 Relief Act of 2008</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HA1D996A54ABF4087BE79CE1840B87113"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exclusion from
			 gross income of AmeriCorps educational awards</header>
			<subsection id="HFB63D79D2CDE428E909EB3CBEA0076C3"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 117 of the
			 Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to qualified scholarships) is amended
			 by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H0508BE61650044F8B36E2E41C4F5E270" style="OLC">
					<subsection id="H38754AE9EDAC4542A2621FA7375600CB"><enum>(e)</enum><header>AmeriCorps
				educational awards</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Gross
				income shall not include any national service educational award described in
				subtitle D of title I of the National and Community Service Act of 1990 (42
				U.S.C. 12601 et
				seq.).</text>
					</subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H37BC41ED9BED45A885658EC7F029CD12"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The amendment made by this section shall apply to taxable
			 years ending after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
