		<section id="H36501FAF23064A88884F5753A58C8F07" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote>21st
			 Century Rural Health Care Act</quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HDAD3FF1AE68043E2BBC4F8C62B222F28"><enum>2.</enum><header>Reauthorization
			 of National Health Service Corps Program</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 338(a) of the Public Health Service
			 Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/254k">42 U.S.C. 254k(a)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>such sums as may be
			 necessary for each of the fiscal years 2002 through 2006</quote> and inserting
			 <quote>$250,000,000 for each of the fiscal years 2009 through
			 2013</quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H86C8C8B0E1AE42FA860000774F1CA0E6"><enum>3.</enum><header>Definition of
			 accredited training programs with an integrated rural track for purposes of
			 Medicare graduate medical education payments</header>
			<subsection id="HAC1CF41C2B1B4DEAA3DBACFE8BDA38F5"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section
			 1886(h)(4)(H)(iv) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1395ww">42 U.S.C. 1395ww(h)(4)(H)(iv)</external-xref>) is
			 amended by adding at the end the following new sentence:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H3ABE3B4F1F4E46E08E3CE3D3B6CCAA1" style="OLC">
					<text>For purposes of this clause, the term
			 <term>accredited training program with an integrated rural track</term> means
			 an accredited medical residency training program located in an urban area which
			 offers a curriculum for family practice for all residents in the program that
			 meets the following requirements:</text><subclause id="H317A34674F6243C5BDF94E7779FF00EF"><enum>(I)</enum><text>A minimum of 4
				block months of rural rotations in rural public health and community health
				settings, during each of which, the resident is in a rural area for 4 weeks or
				a month.</text>
					</subclause><subclause id="H806D3E2E46F64822BB6C87777EABF6B"><enum>(II)</enum><text>A minimum of 3
				months of obstetrical training, or an equivalent longitudinal
				experience.</text>
					</subclause><subclause id="HF0C342B8068343E0B4B42111C3ACC8D"><enum>(III)</enum><text>A minimum of 4
				months of pediatric training that includes neonatal, ambulatory, inpatient, and
				emergency department experiences through rotations, or an equivalent
				longitudinal experience.</text>
					</subclause><subclause id="H35F6CD47B67642A195F65F37AB04FF2"><enum>(IV)</enum><text>A minimum of 2
				months of emergency medicine rotations, or an equivalent longitudinal
				experience.</text>
					</subclause><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H10CA5185E5BC4083B2D600DEC07FEC79"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall apply with respect
			 to payments to hospitals for cost reporting periods beginning on or after
			 January 1, 2010.</text>
