		  method of determining the mileage reimbursement rate under the beneficiary
		  travel program administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, and for other

		<section id="id0C4FF6BAA2FF47E989345D1BCFE600B1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Veterans Travel Equity Act of
			 2008</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H686D7DDE469C4D63953127E1EED864BD" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Veterans beneficiary
			 travel program</header>
			<subsection id="HBBC725E56DB0462E996DC172C7B6F61B"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Determination of
			 mileage reimbursement rate</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subsection (g)(1) of section 111 of title
			 38, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H33C5AADFF199476F83D3CAA9D90038E2" style="OLC">
					<subsection id="H57A19F071F3041CFB9C2F2AB32573919"><enum>(g)</enum><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H159F7CC1137A40599C199DB120F9D8B4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>In determining the
				amount of any allowance or reimbursement to be paid under this section, the
				Secretary shall use the mileage reimbursement rates for the use of privately
				owned vehicles by Government employees on official business, as prescribed by
				the Administrator of General Services under section 5707(b) of title
				5.</text>
						</paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H9B8D084ABA5B4B8EB3ADE26D30091C4"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Elimination of
			 income eligibility and service-connected disability rating
			 requirements</header><text>Section 111 of such title is amended by adding at
			 the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF29AB37E64F74D14BDF4E1559758452" style="OLC">
					<subsection id="HEF97166CE8AD4D2E9F85ADB1F1B5DB67"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Effective beginning on the 90th day
				following the date of enactment of this subsection, the Secretary may not
				impose any income or pension eligibility requirement, or require any service
				connected disability rating, for a veteran to be eligible for an allowance or
				reimbursement under this section and shall eliminate any such requirements in
				effect before such 90th
				day.</text>
					</subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="HE4849CA5D93D4D95B0D193B50BD7253"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply with
			 respect to travel expenses incurred after the expiration of the 90-day period
			 that begins on the date of enactment of this Act.</text>
