		<official-title>To increase the standard mileage rate for use of an
		  automobile for business, medical, and moving deduction purposes for 2008 and
		  permanently increase such rate for charitable deduction purposes under the
		  Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and to temporarily increase the reimbursement
		  rate for use of an automobile by Federal employees.</official-title>

		<section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H8DF1DC917B534491B553B510DB48C2C3" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Reimbursing Our American Drivers
			 (ROAD) Act of 2008</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H8A2AE87C23C04C0AA295C05CFD2860F0" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Temporary increase in
			 mileage rate deduction</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H620E44895C9942028E48299C7D8D9524"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Rate for
			 business, medical, and moving use of an automobile</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For
			 purposes of sections 162(a), 213(d)(1)(B), and 217 of the Internal Revenue Code
			 of 1986, the standard mileage rate for use of an automobile shall be 70 cents
			 per mile for any use after December 31, 2007, and before January 1,
			 2009.</text>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H0F97F06AFE3C4B14AF27020089092C78"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Rate for
			 charitable use of an automobile</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 170(i) of the Internal Revenue Code
			 of 1986 is amended by striking <quote>14 cents</quote> and inserting <quote>40
			 cents</quote>.</text>
			</subsection></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H7B389A8630484F259D2B523E684CE92C" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>3.</enum><header>Temporary increase in
			 reimbursement rate for use of an automobile for Federal employees</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">For purposes of <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/5704">section 5704</external-xref> of title 5,
			 United States Code, the standard mileage rate for use of an automobile for an
			 employee who is engaged on official business for the Government shall be 70
			 cents per mile for any use after December 31, 2007, and before January 1,
			 2009.</text>
