		<official-title>To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to
		  include vision restoration therapy devices and associated software used in the
		  patient’s home to treat impaired visual function due to acquired brain injury
		  within the definition of durable medical equipment under the Medicare
		  Program.</official-title>

		<section id="H0D6DC9E3A75A4013A3223D76C09F6B42" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Restorative and Enhanced Vision Access
			 for Medicare Patients (REVAMP) Act of 2008</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HDD4A6A8478474CD9A3F4A200B4D704C1"><enum>2.</enum><header>Medicare coverage
			 of vision restoration therapy devices and associated software as durable
			 medical equipment</header>
			<subsection id="H7B7F112821204FC29D118C4221274FC0"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1861(n) of
			 the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1395x">42 U.S.C. 1395x(n)</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H26EF2FD2758E4E1AA9FF246D6381229E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking
			 <quote>and</quote> before <quote>includes</quote>; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H9B3810D9C5744830AE40B7D667F1943"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by
			 inserting before the semicolon the following: <quote>, and includes vision
			 restoration therapy devices and associated software that are used in the
			 patient’s home and that have been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug
			 Administration for the treatment of impaired visual function</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H6036F6B685784A1E8ECDE49916A57E53"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by
			 subsection (a) shall apply to items furnished on or after January 1,
			 2009.</text>
