<section id="HF19FD13BD10C47EBBFEEE54CA6B1D1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Delivering Effective Training and Enforcement Resources (DETER) Act of 2008</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="HB9AF9FE92C9348D392E5C9F148DBE450" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Clarification of authorized uses of Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants</header> <text display-inline="no-display-inline">Subparagraph (D) of section 501(a)(1) of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/3751">42 U.S.C. 3751(a)(1)</external-xref>) is amended to read as follows:</text> 
<quoted-block style="OLC" id="HDF6D8B8755A440749F689338D02F0010" display-inline="no-display-inline"> 
<subparagraph id="HA2147970866A457992C386318DB5E4C0"><enum>(D)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Corrections and community corrections programs, which may include—</text> 
<clause id="HD9A21FC82E064A2AAE52820000128970"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">using global positioning monitoring technologies to monitor individuals on parole and probation; and</text></clause> 
<clause id="H0566280145E5484FB4D558F4D669EB73"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>hiring additional parole officers.</text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section> 
<section id="HB68BBF82B97942E19C3CC49601693628"><enum>3.</enum><header>National Adult and Juvenile Offender Reentry Resource Center</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Paragraph (3) of section 2976(m) of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (as amended by <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/110/199">Public Law 110–199</external-xref>) (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/3797w">42 U.S.C. 3797w</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HA87FEECCD8C144BFAF39A384DCA61E4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating subparagraphs (G) through (I) as subparagraphs (I) through (K), respectively; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H1C6ECCF5939B414E9CF3E63F5C3D7C4E"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after subparagraph (F) the following new subparagraphs:</text>

<subparagraph id="H7B8B369A57AB4D23B2E89053D63753B7"><enum>(G)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">collect and disseminate information related to Federal and State laws relevant to parole and probation agencies and officers;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HC8EC73E25DCA458FB400007F00EF0570"><enum>(H)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">collect and disseminate information on available Federal and State grants for parole and probation agencies and officers; </text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section>
