		<official-title>To amend <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/18/44">chapter 44</external-xref> of title 18, United States Code, to
		  require a court adjudication before certain veterans may be denied the right to
		  possess a firearm, and for other purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="H4C768805650144B7B5004CC49EDEB900" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Court Adjudication of Certain
			 Veterans Before Denial of Firearm Rights</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/18/922">Section 922</external-xref> of title 18, United States Code,
			 is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="H7EC967BE12FF45E6A34C001C8D19DE61"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subsection (d), by adding at the end the
			 following: <quote>For purposes of paragraph (4), a veteran discharged from
			 active duty in the Armed Forces with an honorable discharge shall not be
			 considered to have been adjudicated unless the adjudication was made by a court
			 created by an Act of Congress or by a State court.</quote>; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HA2F7502A5BCF4B62BDAD63CFE9CCEA01"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subsection (g), by adding at the end the
			 following: <quote>For purposes of paragraph (4), a veteran discharged from
			 active duty in the Armed Forces with an honorable discharge shall not be

			 created by an Act of Congress or by a State court.</quote>.</text>
			</paragraph></section><section id="HC355D589FD234A7AA1F5F2E480E200BD"><enum>2.</enum><header>Effective
			 Date</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The amendments made by
			 this Act shall apply to conduct occurring on or after January 1, 2009.</text>
