		<section id="H53ED1E9DA6414EC39E89A68DF91314B2" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Religious Worker Visa Extension Act of
			 2008</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H830594BD95F441A994CA00528EA170D3"><enum>2.</enum><header>Special immigrant
			 nonminister religious worker program</header>
			<subsection id="H374380D9A2FE4BFF8882FBE4A5D16409"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Regulations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than December 31, 2008, the
			 Secretary of Homeland Security shall issue final regulations to eliminate or
			 reduce fraud in the special immigrant categories described in subclauses (II)
			 and (III) of section 101(a)(27)(C)(ii) of the Immigration and Nationality Act
			 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1101">8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(27)(C)(ii)</external-xref>).</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HAEE3E319894749ACBE6E319B89441542"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Extensions</header>
				<paragraph id="HD180D5D15CA04A41914CA16BBBCF3217"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section
			 101(a)(27)(C)(ii) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C.
			 1101(a)(27)(C)(ii)) is amended by striking <quote>October 1, 2008,</quote> each
			 place such term appears and inserting <quote>January 1, 2010,</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HAFDDA21254BB48D6AF58082E8774DB4"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Conditional
			 further extension</header>
					<subparagraph id="H420190834795441AA700B5458C0011AC"><enum>(A)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>Section 101(a)(27)(C)(ii) of the Immigration and
			 Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1101">8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(27)(C)(ii)</external-xref>), as amended by paragraph (1), is
			 further amended by striking <quote>January 1, 2010,</quote> each place such
			 term appears and inserting <quote>January 1, 2016,</quote>.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H7FBF3B5E8D61404FB4A700BB3836B06D"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Conditional
			 effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendment
			 made by subparagraph (A) shall take effect on March 1, 2009, but only if the
			 Secretary of Homeland Security has complied with subsection (a).</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HF66068C78FBD487F9DEBA4151DA9527B"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Report</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than September 30, 2010, the
			 Inspector General of the Department of Homeland Security shall submit to the
			 Congress a report containing the results of a study of the effectiveness of the
			 regulations described in subsection (a). The report shall also include an
			 analysis of a random sample of non-minister special immigrant religious
			 workers, before their second anniversary of being admitted, to determine
			 whether they are still employed by the religious organization that petitioned
			 for them, and if not, the reasons for their departure from such
			 employment.</text>
