		<official-title>To amend <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/5/89">chapter 89</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code, and
		  the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 and the Public Health
		  Service Act to require coverage of hearing aids under the Federal Employees
		  Health Benefits Program and private group and individual
		  insurance.</official-title>

		<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H8FF07D51DAFF4398AA13449D6962AAED" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote>Helping
			 America Hear Act of 2007</quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H0B2F79D9F28B4105882523EC2B183B8B"><enum>2.</enum><header>Coverage of
			 hearing aids under FEHBP program</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/8904">Section 8904</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code,
			 is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text>
			<quoted-block id="H6B12D0D8571E47C1AD7C08D9A9D4AD9D" style="OLC">
				<subsection id="H6724F51A7A274ABD96E0DBE7BCB107B3"><enum>(c)</enum><text>Each health
				benefits plan under this chapter shall include coverage for the provision of at
				least 2 hearing aids every 3 years, except that this subsection shall not be
				construed as requiring the payment under such plan in any 3-year period of more
				than $2,500 on hearing aids with respect to any
				individual.</text>
				</subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
		</section><section id="H57B44045CF2B47CF89A54E3500B7E024"><enum>3.</enum><header>Coverage of
			 hearing aids under private insurance plans</header>
			<subsection id="H04C85DCE66904861B48CDF674C43DCB0"><enum>(a)</enum><header>ERISA</header>
				<paragraph id="HB9366B181E3A4A4193BD8409B1E3BD6C"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>Subpart B of part 7 of subtitle B of title I of the
			 <act-name parsable-cite="ERISA">Employee Retirement Income Security Act of
			 1974</act-name> is amended by adding at the end the following new
			 section:</text>
					<quoted-block act-name="Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974" id="HB9DAA12F1E9748898F01329DB4ACD4" style="OLC">
						<section id="H5039883EE4B84B5EB1F2B9448CCAD473"><enum>714.</enum><header>Requiring
				coverage of hearing aids</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">If a
				group health plan provides benefits with respect to hospital and surgical
				expenses, the plan (and any health insurance issuer offering health insurance
				coverage in connection with such a plan) shall provide coverage for the
				provision of at least 2 hearing aids every 3 years, except that this section
				shall not be construed as requiring the payment under such plan in any 3-year
				period of more than $2,500 on hearing aids with respect to any
				individual.</text>
						</section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H66331E58929546A9B2E4A91390F7816"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Clerical
			 amendment</header><text>The table of contents in section 1 of such Act is
			 amended by inserting after the item relating to section 713 the following new
			 item:</text>

						</toc>
						<after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H5D319E42051A40779FEA19C6C003258"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Individual health
			 insurance</header><text>Part B of title XXVII of the
			 <act-name parsable-cite="PHSA">Public Health Service Act</act-name> is amended
			 by inserting after section 2752 the following new section:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H3E42E41E949A499892B99D65D03800CD" style="OLC">
					<section id="HDC61AEE8DD9B4E8AB36100DA6C17997D"><enum>2752.</enum><header>Requiring
				coverage of hearing aids</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The
				provisions of section 714 of the <act-name parsable-cite="ERISA">Employee
				Retirement Income Security Act of 1974</act-name> shall apply to health
				insurance coverage offered by a health insurance issuer in the individual
				market in the same manner as they apply to health insurance coverage offered by
				a health insurance issuer in connection with a group health plan in the small
				or large group
				market.</text>
					</section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection></section><section id="H5AFFAF3919F74A9D90AE5076CF99392D"><enum>4.</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The amendments made by
			 this Act shall apply to coverage furnished in plan years beginning more than 60
			 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
