		(H.R. 5057) entitled <quote>An Act to reauthorize the Debbie Smith DNA Backlog
		Grant Program, and for other purposes.</quote>, do pass with the
		following</text>
		</section><amendment><amendment-instruction blank-lines-after="0"><text>Strike all after
	 the enacting clause and insert the
	 following:</text></amendment-instruction><amendment-block blank-lines-after="1" changed="added" reported-display-style="italic">
				<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short
		title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as
		the <quote><short-title>Debbie Smith Reauthorization Act of
		2008</short-title></quote>.</text>
				</section><section id="id3EBF05DC81164E89874C39CD6DECD79F"><enum>2.</enum><header>General
		reauthorization</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2 of
		the DNA Analysis Backlog Elimination Act of 2000 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/14135">42 U.S.C. 14135</external-xref>) is
		amended—</text>
					<paragraph id="idA04F06D1E8B741958919A22EB7858500"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in
		subsection (c)(3), by—</text>
						<subparagraph id="id564C6496D9C6499A86532C2BA98123AE"><enum>(A)</enum><text>striking
		subparagraphs (A) through (D);</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="idF7E793E888FF4AD5987CC5076F55207C"><enum>(B)</enum><text>redesignating
		subparagraph (E) and subparagraph (A); and</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="idD8D1C2A2456640D0901927B1034D64C5"><enum>(C)</enum><text>inserting at the
		end the following:</text>
							<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id64D49796B93F4359A3E0CC9BBC09D089" style="OLC">
								<subparagraph id="idD15A1E49B42D4C9997BFC6EFB7112C1F"><enum>(B)</enum><text>For each of the
		  fiscal years 2010 through 2014, not less than 40 percent of the grant amounts
		  shall be awarded for purposes under subsection
		  (a)(2).</text>
								</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>;
		  and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
						</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="id57E8ACFEF4A14E08B1049945878C4C6D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by
		amending subsection (j) to read as follows:</text>

							<subsection id="id955A88E8687F4AFBB4CBB6FA377BA093"><enum>(j)</enum><header>Authorization
		  of appropriations</header><text>There are authorized to be appropriated to the
		  Attorney General for grants under subsection (a) $151,000,000 for each of
		  fiscal years 2009 through
		  2014.</text>

					</paragraph></section><section id="idA0D25BB3898343B19BC0F1EE9A513A29"><enum>3.</enum><header>Training and
		education</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 303(b) of
		the DNA Sexual Assault Justice Act of 2004 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/14136">42 U.S.C. 14136(b)</external-xref>) is amended by
		striking <quote>2005 through 2009</quote> and inserting <quote>2009 through
		2014</quote>.</text>
				</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idC109D8F3C578414798C898BC4A6AA595" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>4.</enum><header>Sexual assault
		forensic exam grants</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section
		304(c) of the DNA Sexual Assault Justice Act of 2004 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/14136a">42 U.S.C. 14136a(c)</external-xref>) is
		amended by striking <quote>2005 through 2009</quote> and inserting <quote>2009
		through 2014</quote>.</text>
