		<section id="H09FE407A92C94C8D88CFEF0D5F5F880" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Wildland Fire Safety and Transparency
			 Act of 2007</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H21BD7B7FA1554C1B8DD2B1006809836C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Wildland
			 firefighter safety</header>
			<subsection id="H59F49B4973C442F194C2D5B69CEA1848"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In
			 this section:</text>
				<paragraph id="HA7B1761508924374AAD8CD77E20093D6"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Secretaries</header><text>The
			 term <quote>Secretaries</quote> means—</text>
					<subparagraph id="H1760D40582A14384AABE95AB704974FE"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the Secretary of
			 the Interior, acting through the Directors of the Bureau of Land Management,
			 the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Park Service, and the
			 Bureau of Indian Affairs; and</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HD0E8DDFACD994D8BACD6DAE955BC563C"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the Secretary of
			 Agriculture, acting through the Chief of the Forest Service.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H945136CA12184B78B23D6E3F005D0706"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Wildland
			 firefighter</header><text>The term <quote>wildland firefighter</quote> means
			 any person who participates in wildland firefighting activities—</text>
					<subparagraph id="H3923A22B828F416EB6DAAC6F7F224F55"><enum>(A)</enum><text>under the
			 direction of either of the Secretaries; or</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H306C7C0AACCC4DB591AC777B98527D03"><enum>(B)</enum><text>under a contract
			 or compact with a federally recognized Indian tribe.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HF4E2BB1FE3A54261A9627BD69C226CB0"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Annual Report to
			 Congress</header>
				<paragraph id="H7ADD62B91129406192468C6C88B700D0"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>The Secretaries shall jointly submit to Congress an
			 annual report on the wildland firefighter safety practices of the Secretaries,
			 including training programs and activities for wildland fire suppression,
			 prescribed burning, and wildland fire use, during the preceding calendar
			 year.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H7DBBCBAF8942447B9553B25F42AC7827"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Timeline</header><text>Each
			 report under paragraph (1) shall—</text>
					<subparagraph id="H1165EA0EBD0A411E001494FF5EA550D6"><enum>(A)</enum><text>be submitted by
			 not later than March of the year following the calendar year covered by the
			 report; and</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H9A029AACB74C4FB28B50E300E44E213E"><enum>(B)</enum><text>include—</text>
						<clause id="H617B645684EE40A996F590A53500DED5"><enum>(i)</enum><text>a
			 description of, and any changes to, wildland firefighter safety practices,
			 including training programs and activities for wildland fire suppression,
			 prescribed burning, and wildland fire use;</text>
						</clause><clause id="H2695035CEAF94DDFA500C6E430A1B4AC"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>statistics and
			 trend analyses;</text>
						</clause><clause id="H58015207235D40F387573E0000F6BBB"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>an
			 estimate of the amount of Federal funds expended by the Secretaries on wildland
			 firefighter safety practices, including training programs and activities for
			 wildland fire suppression, prescribed burning, and wildland fire use;</text>
						</clause><clause id="H281FA12614AF4E9BABEC4E405EDA23F4"><enum>(iv)</enum><text>progress made in
			 implementing recommendations from the Inspector General, the Government
			 Accountability Office, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or an
			 agency report relating to a wildland firefighting fatality issued during the
			 preceding 10 years; and</text>
						</clause><clause id="H5CE283DE9C9C4A8FA969669DD0122F26"><enum>(v)</enum><text>a
			 description of—</text>
							<subclause id="H80A9F56DFAB94D57911E9331A32E0C9"><enum>(I)</enum><text>the provisions
			 relating to wildland firefighter safety practices in any Federal contract or
			 other agreement governing the provision of wildland firefighters by a
			 non-Federal entity;</text>
							</subclause><subclause id="H9556E847FFCB43E3B34D97D08661B7D"><enum>(II)</enum><text>a
			 summary of any actions taken by the Secretaries to ensure that the provisions
			 relating to safety practices, including training, are complied with by the
			 non-Federal entity; and</text>
							</subclause><subclause id="H5501204E9FE84D108C7CD1C3772DAD21"><enum>(III)</enum><text>the results of
			 those actions.</text>
