<legis-type>AN ACT</legis-type> 
<official-title display="yes">To revise the composition of the House of Representatives Page Board to equalize the number of members representing the majority and minority parties and to include a member representing the parents of pages and a member representing former pages, and for other purposes.</official-title>

<section id="H26CB7A85B90441C79D019DD7682316CD" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short Title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>House Page Board Revision Act of 2007</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="H1604F85943F44439A5669DA6620735A7"><enum>2.</enum><header>Revision of Composition of House of Representatives Page Board</header> 
<subsection id="HD5B92BA74C7B478F9DB586E48BBF43E7"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Expansion of Membership</header><text>Section 2(a) of House Resolution 611, Ninety-seventh Congress, agreed to November 30, 1982, as enacted into permanent law by section 127 of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/97/377">Public Law 97–377</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/88b-3">2 U.S.C. 88b–3(a)</external-xref>), is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HE88C1098CEDE4179B89C256EE0FC442"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (1), by striking <quote>one Member</quote> and inserting <quote>two Members</quote>;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HE8BD916F34234B6BB2003D471C1D702B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end of paragraph (1);</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HD4800A0E236A4F238340BA6F18536D90"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by redesignating paragraph (2) as paragraph (4); and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H7089A0F7D46D4C60B5A81EBAD2FBE024"><enum>(4)</enum><text>by inserting after paragraph (1) the following new paragraphs:</text>

<paragraph id="HB264280F3B884FC198560902009378C3"><enum>(2)</enum><text>one individual who, at any time during the 5-year period which ends on the date of the individual’s appointment, is or was a parent of a page participating in the program;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H298D71DED26E4823ABEF08FB7CCA7686"><enum>(3)</enum><text>one individual who is a former page of the House who is not a Member of the House or an individual described in paragraph (2); and </text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H9AF5452DD0074D67B7D9FA974CA9A714"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Special Rules for Members Representing Parents and Former Pages</header><text>Section 2 of such House Resolution (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/88b-3">2 U.S.C. 88b–3</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HCC11D700CACB4181B0D64C1F0028E6A6"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating subsection (b) as subsection (c); and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H6033585F12F14A01A84D9F2650322F16"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after subsection (a) the following new subsection:</text> 
<quoted-block style="OLC" id="H5E3D826707A746EE8500B050C7AA1933" display-inline="no-display-inline"> 
<subsection id="HACF09AA3A36B4BA0833EE21C61DE6549"><enum>(b)</enum><text>In the case of the members of the Page Board who are described in paragraphs (2) and (3) of subsection (a), the following shall apply:</text> 
<paragraph id="HD2FAF736ED9E448EB0BDBFD4DA87C800"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Each such member shall be appointed jointly by the Speaker and minority leader of the House of Representatives.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H97257B09E070416D85E08F2B4BA7C73E"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Each such member shall serve for a term of one year and may be reappointed for additional terms if the member continues to meet the requirements for appointment.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HF467F23775524C0DA1ABBB24DE6624E"><enum>(3)</enum><text>A vacancy in the position held by any such member shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment. An individual appointed to fill a vacancy shall serve for the remainder of the original term and may be reappointed in accordance with paragraph (2).</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HD7BFFBB38975454C819301CE2F62D1A2"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Each such member may be paid travel or transportation expenses, including per diem in lieu of subsistence, for attending meetings of the Page Board while away from the member’s home or place of business. There are authorized to be appropriated from the applicable accounts of the House of Representatives such sums as may be necessary for payments under this paragraph.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection></section> 
<section id="H8E0CED13C760490BB771069E8D3BA167"><enum>3.</enum><header>Requiring Regular Meetings</header> <text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1 of House Resolution 611, Ninety-seventh Congress, agreed to November 30, 1982, as enacted into permanent law by section 127 of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/97/377">Public Law 97–377</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/88b-2">2 U.S.C. 88b–2</external-xref>), is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H7EA59DBB4E594E649F1126CC003DF366"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>Until otherwise</quote> and inserting <quote>(a) Until otherwise</quote>; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H205AB0225E934F3CBA11FB9712FDB409"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text> 
<quoted-block style="OLC" id="HCBD41C85D7D44C3C800614086C38AEE5" display-inline="no-display-inline"> 
<subsection id="H307BA7C2D14940A09C23E471FC7800C8"><enum>(b)</enum><text>The Page Board shall meet regularly, in accordance with a schedule established jointly by the Speaker and minority leader of the House of Representatives.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section> 
<section id="H654453ACD91A42578B3F1DE9BE5FC6DA"><enum>4.</enum><header>Effective Date</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The amendments made by this Act shall apply with respect to the portion of the One Hundred Tenth Congress which begins after the date of the enactment of this Act and each succeeding Congress.</text> </section>
