			 such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee

		<section id="H0300A707EAEF47C3A068A600AD6D51CB" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Exception for citizens of
			 Freely Associated States</header>
			<subsection id="HF2465F8E05A74A88BA272EF7206C157C"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>Section 402(a)(2) of the Personal Responsibility and Work
			 Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1612">8 U.S.C. 1612(a)(2)</external-xref>) is amended by
			 adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block id="H680EB461C35041259C095E4D78A5807E">
					<subparagraph id="HDDF7C7C1B5CF4AE5B673982EA255D93D"><enum>(M)</enum><header>Exception for
				citizens of Freely Associated States</header><text>With respect to eligibility
				for benefits for the specified Federal programs described in paragraph (3),
				paragraph (1) shall not apply to any individual who lawfully resides in the
				United States (including territories and possessions of the United States) in
				accordance with—</text>
						<clause id="HF8FB0AF1699A47F4A9C84C8B7B828976"><enum>(i)</enum><text>section 141 of the
				Compact of Free Association between the Government of the United States and the
				Government of the Federated States of Micronesia, approved by Congress in the
				Compact of Free Association Amendments Act of 2003;</text>
						</clause><clause id="HD5B4B7E975DD441CAAA3C844702E06D6"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>section 141 of
				the Compact of Free Association between the Government of the United States and
				the Government of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, approved by Congress in
				the Compact of Free Association Amendments Act of 2003; or</text>
						</clause><clause id="HB940790EBA3B48E3A93266713924D3CA"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>section 141 of
				the Compact of Free Association between the Government of the United States and
				the Government of Palau, approved by Congress in <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/99/658">Public Law 99–658</external-xref> (100 Stat.
				3672).</text>
						</clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H74362018228A423D8D1EF7FC41D74A4"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Medicaid and TANF
			 exceptions</header><text>Section 402(b)(2) of the Personal Responsibility and
			 Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1612">8 U.S.C. 1612(b)(2)</external-xref>) is amended by
			 adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block id="H084C3668FF9B4A4CB6761185D8C9CE00">
					<subparagraph id="H46D7913721634FC0A0C500A6A02B5F8F"><enum>(G)</enum><header>Medicaid and
				tanf exceptions for citizens of Freely Associated States</header><text>With
				respect to eligibility for benefits for the programs defined in subparagraphs
				(A) and (C) of paragraph (3) (relating to temporary assistance for needy
				families and medicaid), paragraph (1) shall not apply to any individual who
				lawfully resides in the United States (including territories and possessions of
				the United States) in accordance with a Compact of Free Association referred to
				in subsection
				(a)(2)(M).</text>
					</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H91985E71C9994D0A89BE76BDFAFE71CF"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Qualified
			 alien</header><text>Section 431(b) of the Personal Responsibility and Work
			 Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1641">8 U.S.C. 1641(b)</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H5BBD09231B3347DCBD8D68005C009891"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (6),
			 by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end;</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HB9016A62E6E94D9BAE84F2AB1BEF056"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in
			 paragraph (7), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>;
			 or</quote>; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HD2291C7042AC479EAD6FAD821D00A4E"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by
			 adding at the end the following:</text>
					<quoted-block id="HE954A47658A641B8AC0086D301A587EE">
						<paragraph id="H2B16C30EEF1444D0BEAAF433324B6DF5"><enum>(8)</enum><text>an individual who
				lawfully resides in the United States (including territories and possessions of
				the United States) in accordance with a Compact of Free Association referred to
				in section
				402(a)(2)(M).</text>
						</paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HFDABBE13B1A742C7B0356EBA01CE7B3B"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Conforming
			 Amendments</header><text>Section 1108 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C.
			 1308) is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H57A7BBBEFF3F43A4846B4165DCE69230"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (f),
			 in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by striking <quote>subsection
			 (g)</quote> and inserting <quote>subsections (g) and (h)</quote>; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HD526E07CA3E549EC9886AA0D491B7E5"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by
			 adding at the end the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H4D7645F2F4EA408B8FA8DAD8C2C7C157" style="OLC">
						<subsection id="H34414D299EBA43CD9FB3941285C2FF4D"><enum>(h)</enum><text>The limitations of
				subsections (f) and (g) shall not apply with respect to medical assistance
				provided to an individual described in section 431(b)(8) of the Personal
				Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of
				1996.</text>
						</subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HD3AFE93635A541319E5B714B736FBA84"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Effective
			 Date</header><text>The amendments made by this Act take effect on the date of
			 enactment of this Act and apply to benefits and assistance provided on or after
			 that date.</text>
