		<official-title>To amend title 18, United States Code, to provide for
		  punishment for killing a member of the Armed Forces of the United
		  States.</official-title>

		<section id="H878D04B21CC84E73989591DCB7ECE16D" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Captain Scott Corwin Armed Forces Protection Act of
			 2007</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H8BEA470F92014750A57DCF274CCC001E"><enum>2.</enum><header>Declaration of
			 purpose</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Congress hereby
			 declares that the protection of members of the armed forces from violent crime
			 is important to maintain public safety. In recognition of this need, Congress
			 hereby recognizes the sacrifice made by Captain Scott Corwin, West Point class
			 of 1999, who was murdered.</text>
		</section><section id="HC8C70CCC239348FDBDCEEA42AEAAD189"><enum>3.</enum><header>Protection of
			 members of the armed forces</header>
			<subsection id="H773423761C0D4CED90A5C61B7FB32569"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Chapter 51 of title
			 18, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H1982D8E160B94D8F8680CFE759C2B414" style="USC">
					<section id="H82FEC331655942B1A3DD42A920FD4FE2"><enum>1123.</enum><header>Murder of
				member of the Armed Forces</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Whoever kills, or conspires or attempts to
				kill, any member of the Armed Forces of the United States, shall be
				punished—</text>
						<paragraph id="HC590F200A0494DF38436B8CCFB701F01"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the case of murder, as provided under
				section 1111;</text>
						</paragraph><paragraph id="HB072DE91F73C47C883570063651D7607"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the case of manslaughter, as provided
				under section 1112;</text>
						</paragraph><paragraph id="HEB3D672964984501A99EAF94925CDE4F"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the case of attempted murder or
				manslaughter, as provided under section 1113; or</text>
						</paragraph><paragraph id="H6497B9288CA24F37892BBDD154CB9410"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the case of conspiracy to commit murder,
				as provided under section
				1117.</text>
						</paragraph></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H2207027C61F8401D8DA5F3CC5C00239B"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Clerical
			 amendment</header><text>The table of sections for such chapter is amended by
			 adding at the end the following:</text>

			 aggravating factor</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section
			 3592(c) of title 18, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the
			 following:</text>

				member of the Armed Forces of the United
				States.</text>
