<section id="H25D5794BA7DB4276A7135637974C66D8" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Department of State rewards program relating to the capture of Osama bin Laden</header> 
<subsection id="HD39AC53FFC684A0EA8EDA212CA88FB49"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subsection (b) of section 36 of the State Department Basic Authorities Act of 1956 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/2708">22 U.S.C. 2708</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H7361D03E7858409E8253E58B4382BC8"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (6), by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H12BC8FABAA9942009BD1DFAD339D8F51"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (7)(B), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H9A58A2651D37401CB93CBEAACA5B5343"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text>

<paragraph id="HAAA4E8B18F074923AD07B170F1CFA476"><enum>(8)</enum><text>the capture in any country of Osama bin Laden.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HF5B9326709354022BA9136CAD4D096C9"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Increase in amount of reward for capture of Osama bin Laden</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subsection (e)(1) of such section is amended, in the second sentence, by inserting before the period at the end the following: <quote>, except that the Secretary may authorize a reward of up to $500,000,000 for the capture or information leading to the capture of Osama bin Laden, in accordance with subsection (b)(8)</quote>.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H20E2F800C3CF459DADEB624056893FA5"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Plan of action</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of State shall submit to the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate a plan to maximize awareness of the reward available under paragraph (8) of section 36(b) of the State Department Basic Authorities Act of 1956 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/2708">22 U.S.C. 2708(b)</external-xref>) (as added by subsection (a)(3) of this Act) for information leading to the capture of Osama bin Laden. The Secretary may use the resources of the rewards program to prepare the plan.</text> </subsection></section>
