		<official-title>To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a
		  special resource study of sites and resources at Matewan, West Virginia,
		  associated with the Battle of Matewan to determine the suitability and
		  feasibility of designating certain historic areas as a unit of the National
		  Park System.</official-title>

		<section id="HF71AA664FC87445500765D650039C6CC" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Battle of Matewan Study
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HB6960DCADFF04305A1FB826F3095D808"><enum>2.</enum><header>Special resource
			 study</header>
			<subsection id="H5ADE3717A6954A2F81D6FEFFE3FFE8B6"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>The Secretary of the Interior (hereafter referred to in
			 this Act as the <quote>Secretary</quote>) shall complete a special resource
			 study of the sites and resources at Matewan, West Virginia, associated with the
			 Battle of Matewan (also known as the Matewan Massacre) of May 19, 1920, to
			 determine—</text>
				<paragraph id="H1BC7A3C4EEE14F16BEC69F84AF008D53"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the suitability
			 and feasibility of designating certain historic areas of Matewan, West
			 Virginia, as a unit of the National Park System; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H06CA38071809444BAAF03EC65222461D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the methods and
			 means for the protection and interpretation of such historic areas by the
			 National Park Service, other Federal, State, or local government entities, or
			 private or non-profit organizations.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HED8884E3BCDD40ECB938F2FDDAE7271"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Study
			 requirements</header><text>The Secretary shall conduct the study in accordance
			 with section 8(c) of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/91/383">Public Law 91–383</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1a">16 U.S.C. 1a–5</external-xref>).</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H986653CC6BEB41B08D6297342979DDEE"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Report</header><text>Not
			 later than 3 years after the date on which funds are made available to carry
			 out this Act, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Natural Resources
			 of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural
			 Resources of the Senate a report containing—</text>
				<paragraph id="HE6B6DD7BAB564F49BA816F4FBDB58C22"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the results of the
			 study; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H2E9D376AFEEA47FAAFA8D5CA2CE19882"><enum>(2)</enum><text>any
			 recommendations of the Secretary.</text>
