<official-title display="yes">To amend the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act to designate a segment of the Missisquoi and Trout Rivers in the State of Vermont for study for potential addition to the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System.</official-title>

<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HED571B769F33472A8BFF877BBC7EE404" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Missisquoi and Trout Rivers Wild and Scenic River Study Act of 2008</short-title></quote>.</text> </section>
<section id="HAC21BCC9C42E4871B1CD48BE377F4C9D"><enum>2.</enum><header>Designation for study</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5(a) of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1276">16 U.S.C. 1276(a)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text> 
<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H120A7C92F33A4CC8BF4473B691B1E5E7" style="OLC">
<paragraph id="H69A56B6658824C6DA658CF1FD81C625C" indent="up1"><enum>(__)</enum><header>Missisquoi and trout rivers, vermont</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The approximately 25-mile segment of the upper Missisquoi from its headwaters in Lowell to the Canadian border in North Troy; the approximately 25-mile segment from the Canadian border in East Richford to Enosburg Falls; and approximately 20 miles of the Trout River from its headwaters to its confluence with the Missisquoi River.</text> </paragraph> <after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </section>
<section id="H9C934BCC745248D692964CBE89931497"><enum>3.</enum><header>Study and report</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5(b) of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1276">16 U.S.C. 1276(b)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text> 
<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H49BDB05CAB034A6695A37DB7F34D8DEC" style="OLC">
<paragraph id="HF5899A134E2D48238EF989CFDC583B82" indent="up1"><enum>(19)</enum><header>Missisquoi and trout rivers, vermont</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 3 years after funds are made available to carry out this paragraph, the Secretary of the Interior shall—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HCE5B41AE8A594610B5481CA9F060E332"><enum>(A) analyze any potential impacts on the possession or use of a weapon, trap, or net, including a concealed weapon, on the Missisquoi and Trout Rivers, Vermont, described in subsection (a)(__) or on lands adjacent to that area;</enum> </subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H15989773C3DD4A0EB38CD8B1E11C9F7D"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">include in the study completed under this paragraph an assessment of any effect a wild and scenic designation in the study area is likely to have on energy production, transmission, or conveyance;</text> </subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H8DDB7C2F99D846E7998B46213FF2BA2D"><enum>(C) analyze the potential impact of the designation on private lands within the Missisquoi and Trout Rivers, Vermont, described in subsection (a)(__) or adjacent to that area;</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"></text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H4250BCD99D384B11980249E102127B99"><enum>(D) complete the study of the Missisquoi and Trout Rivers, Vermont, described in subsection (a)(__); and</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"></text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H5A5F410002EF4D0683182802E2EC32F"><enum>(E) submit a report describing the results of that study to the appropriate committees of Congress.</enum> </subparagraph></paragraph> <after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section>
<section id="H6E5818BB47C74030A89FAFCD3F875C10"><enum>4.</enum><header>Funding</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Nothing in this Act or the amendments made by this Act shall be construed as authorizing appropriations to designate or otherwise create a new component of the national wild and scenic rivers system.</text> </section>
