		<official-title display="yes">To authorize the Secretary of the Interior
		  to conduct a special resource study of sites associated with the life of Cesar
		  Estrada Chavez and the farm labor movement.</official-title>

	<legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H3F3A6B4E08E94AAC855900149CC66D7D" style="OLC">
		<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE335BF7E24894CE9A0D49100D946DBFA" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>César Estrada Chávez Study
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H6CFE2894DC6346E9AAA6ED9C7F235138"><enum>2.</enum><header>Special resource
			 study</header>
			<subsection id="H79CCAA9EDCC5464DA778C5EE5BC93494"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 General</header><text>Not later than 3 years after the date on which funds are
			 made available to carry out this Act, the Secretary of the Interior (referred
			 to in this Act as the <quote>Secretary</quote>) shall complete a special
			 resource study of sites in the State of Arizona, the State of California, and
			 other States that are significant to the life of César E. Chávez and the farm
			 labor movement in the western United States to determine—</text>
				<paragraph id="H21468B3A1CD04B43AEE37EC89EE83484"><enum>(1)</enum><text>appropriate
			 methods for preserving and interpreting the sites; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HC1A71543387C4909B3EDA600ADB09605"><enum>(2)</enum><text>whether any of the
			 sites meets the criteria for listing on the National Register of Historic
			 Places or designation as a national historic landmark under—</text>
					<subparagraph id="H210280D9E45942B38C12F77DBDE4C564"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the Act of August
			 21, 1935 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/461">16 U.S.C. 461 et seq.</external-xref>); or</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H6E82C971A1FF46E084047E40D529B987"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the National
			 Historic Preservation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/470">16 U.S.C. 470 et seq.</external-xref>).</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HDABA378FBAD34164B19465C81ED0E344"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Requirements</header><text>In
			 conducting the study under subsection (a), the Secretary shall—</text>
				<paragraph id="H41E1589D6BCD4A1C9D15EC563249A682"><enum>(1)</enum><text>consider the
			 criteria for the study of areas for potential inclusion in the National Park
			 System under section 8(b)(2) of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/91/383">Public Law 91–383</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1a">16 U.S.C. 1a–5(b)(2)</external-xref>);
			 and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HF409A3E6A5B442D589B220DA29F22A7"><enum>(2)</enum><text>consult
			 with—</text>
					<subparagraph id="H1FCFF59D51304986B50260FCD3A1C62C"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the César E.
			 Chávez Foundation;</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H54D74D4A547E4FBBBFFF98FB2C44488C"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the United Farm
			 Workers Union; and</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HFE677591BE834CAE9C5BF1991521BC9C"><enum>(C)</enum><text>State and local
			 historical associations and societies, including any State historic
			 preservation offices in the State in which the site is located.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H57152538392348CBBF4D64F1E0081BE"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Report</header><text>On
			 completion of the study, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Natural
			 Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and
			 Natural Resources of the Senate a report that describes—</text>
				<paragraph id="HE2887393237D4531ABBDF225EC885F76"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the findings of
			 the study; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HB30A9BE2C61648C6A300D69CB748CF00"><enum>(2)</enum><text>any
			 recommendations of the Secretary.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection></section><section id="HF8C311A5A294443683994BE062F358BA"><enum>3.</enum><header>Authorization of
			 appropriations</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">There are
			 authorized to be appropriated such sums as are necessary to carry out this
			 Act.</text>
