		<official-title>To amend title 5, United States Code, to facilitate the
		  temporary reemployment of Federal annuitants, and for other
		  purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="HC2D9EE70DB9A4899BD643933AA478F27" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Temporary reemployment of
			 annuitants</header>
			<subsection id="HABDA00924BB7434E9600B7DACFAC32DF"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Civil Service
			 Retirement System</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section
			 8344 of title 5, United States Code, is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H749331B1D92740EC8CB8228EC605B2EE"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating
			 subsection (l) as subsection (m); and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H668C5BE1FA35496C9BF4992634158784"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after
			 subsection (k) the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB1DEF3C049ED42F6AE90AE49E8CB7764" style="OLC">
						<subsection id="HE0CE1DACA6EB4A40A500A3071671ADB0"><enum>(l)</enum><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="HA90EFB202C9645EBB254F326D1FBB4C5"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The head of an Executive
				agency may waive the application of subsection (a) or (b) with respect to any
				annuitant who is employed in such agency on a temporary basis, subject to
				paragraph (2).</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph id="H4A29F0F030FD471EB24874D300A26D1F" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>An annuitant may not, under authority
				of this subsection, be excluded from the application of subsection (a) or (b)
				(as the case may be) with respect to more than—</text>
								<subparagraph id="H420C71B8A18242FB84D1568D341FEF71"><enum>(A)</enum><text>520 hours of service performed by such
				annuitant during the period ending 6 months after the date on which the annuity
				of such annuitant commences;</text>
								</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H0AF307E128754A32AEE460296303233"><enum>(B)</enum><text>1,040 hours of service performed by
				such annuitant during any 12-month period; or</text>
								</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HDCC3D0E6958E4544B489A446723CDA02"><enum>(C)</enum><text>6,240 hours of service performed by
				such annuitant during the lifetime of such annuitant.</text>
								</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H1DA48F31C58744889EA2F1BA329F478D" indent="up1"><enum>(3)</enum><text>The Director of the Office of
				Personnel Management may prescribe any regulations necessary for the
				administration of this
				subsection.</text>
							</paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H905548691170464AA2E86EE86636A31C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Federal
			 Employees’ Retirement System</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/8468">Section 8468</external-xref> of title 5, United
			 States Code, is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H4692755450FC4A5A8D6F5E3B7006BD77"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating
			 subsection (i) as subsection (j); and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H29660F29A3964687AA507916CFDDC37B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after
			 subsection (h) the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H6AEB252834A14EF0898204F5479D1B3E" style="OLC">
						<subsection id="H49DC134AF06F4DF988552D798BF54FAE"><enum>(i)</enum><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H8D57631BD7504A00BAA578DD7633C0D9"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The head of an Executive
				agency may waive the application of subsection (a) with respect to any
				annuitant who is employed in such agency on a temporary basis, subject to
				paragraph (2).</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph id="H1A281737C70D4D6D91497FB62086A6A6" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>An annuitant may not, under authority
				of this subsection, be excluded from the application of subsection (a) with
				respect to more than—</text>
								<subparagraph id="H40EB1B80D99C4EC9964BB051FFEBB60"><enum>(A)</enum><text>520 hours of service performed by such
				annuitant during the period ending 6 months after the date on which the annuity
				of such annuitant commences;</text>
								</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HD937C92831F747AD9096E93914BAD0B0"><enum>(B)</enum><text>1,040 hours of service performed by
				such annuitant during any 12-month period; or</text>
								</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H1E41584100A34169B78CF9F7F338146"><enum>(C)</enum><text>6,240 hours of service performed by
				such annuitant during the lifetime of such annuitant.</text>
								</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H02C712CD45DE45828EA4089C9088F6D2" indent="up1"><enum>(3)</enum><text>The Director of the Office of
				Personnel Management may prescribe any regulations necessary for the
				administration of this
				subsection.</text>
							</paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection></section><section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HD3EB3718957A43DC879FE4CD30E72B00" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Technical and
			 conforming amendments</header>
			<subsection id="H19AC61F3A4614FD19D308724B37944F"><enum>(a)</enum><text>Section 8344(m) of
			 title 5, United States Code (as so redesignated by section 1(a)(1)) is
			 amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H56C4B9BF13D84732AF90DED5FBBD44A3"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (1),
			 by striking <quote>(k)</quote> and inserting <quote>(l)</quote>; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H0CFFCC357D874104A2754987E000FAD"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in
			 paragraph (2), by striking <quote>or (k)</quote> and inserting <quote>(k), or
			 (l)</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H024688C1AC064EBBA528742D69731B4B"><enum>(b)</enum><text>Section 8468(j) of
			 title 5, United States Code (as so redesignated by section 1(b)(1)) is
			 amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H300D923D74D14F09BC211CA64BE1B43"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in
			 paragraph (1), by striking <quote>(h)</quote> and inserting <quote>(i)</quote>;
			 and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H5FDDAD0D129F4D5FB18BDA5F002B6DCA"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (2),
			 by striking <quote>or (h)</quote> and inserting <quote>(h), or
			 (i)</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H73FBD60C4B884CBEB312FFBE13ED46B"><enum>(c)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/39/1005">Section 1005(d)(2)</external-xref> of title 39, United
			 States Code, is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H3C6B1D63DF324B28AC007CCEC854DE8"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by
			 striking <quote>subsections (i) and (l)(2) of section 8344</quote> and
			 inserting <quote>subsections (i), (l), and (m)(2) of section 8344</quote>;
			 and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HCD3A6EC322314FA98DEBB306C4A98BF5"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking
			 <quote>subsections (f) and (i)(2) of section 8368</quote> and inserting
			 <quote>subsections (f), (i), and (j)(2) of section 8368</quote>.</text>
