		<section id="H3200CE948BD14F6F842D1250F2C707F2" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Providing Electronic Resources and
			 Prosecutors Act of 2007</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H13F8DBB071F94DF4A27E7659B51750E8"><enum>2.</enum><header>Grants to
			 prosecutors and law enforcement to combat violent crime</header>
			<subsection id="H22D022C3529645D300DA6EC50874A5FE"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 General</header><text>Section 31702 of the <act-name parsable-cite="VCCLEA94">Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of
			 1994</act-name> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/13862">42 U.S.C. 13862</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H927AC146669F4984AD9C69018CCF3602"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (3),
			 by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end;</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H50BD46703E42471CBFC5A606488329A0"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (4),
			 by striking the period at the end and inserting a semicolon; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H29C8D81A62B54789AF45326CB0969388"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the
			 end the following:</text>
					<quoted-block committee-id="SSJU00" id="H2D2A125DA12749B284B037B83800A159" style="OLC">
						<paragraph id="H52D166D52E3944419E49F3465DD0098"><enum>(5)</enum><text>to hire additional
				prosecutors to—</text>
							<subparagraph id="H3D64327C6ABD4B81BE4CDFFE9D08E5"><enum>(A)</enum><text>allow more cases to
				be prosecuted; and</text>
							</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HFDAEAE3C19CB427EADCB579263595FA0"><enum>(B)</enum><text>reduce backlogs;
				and</text>
							</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HFE9489EAB4E3498A9BCC4409008684F1"><enum>(6)</enum><text>to fund
				technology, equipment, and training for prosecutors and law enforcement in
				order to increase accurate identification of gang members and violent
				offenders, and to maintain databases with such information to facilitate
				coordination among law enforcement and
				prosecutors.</text>

				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H5B869DB091A440F78DBDC2272FBC2BF9"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Authorization of
			 Appropriations</header><text>Section 31707 of the
			 <act-name parsable-cite="VCCLEA94">Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement
			 Act of 1994</act-name> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/13867">42 U.S.C. 13867</external-xref>) is amended to read as follows:</text>

					<section id="HEAAF25DB56264C96BC8BA49F59873466"><enum>31707.</enum><header>Authorization
				of appropriations</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">There are
				authorized to be appropriated $20,000,000 for each of the fiscal years 2008
				through 2012 to carry out this
				subtitle.</text>
