		<official-title>To require the Securities and Exchange Commission to
		  improve the disclosure of fees and expenses of open-end investment companies
		  registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940.</official-title>

		<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H343D53A3CF0045698C79D8D308E9650" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Mutual Fund Fee Reform
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H17EA106847F84A2B9085A4194335247E"><enum>2.</enum><header>Rulemaking on
			 fund fees required</header>
			<subsection id="H51E5A3CF13C24B2594ACE8CCFD84435D"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Initiation of
			 proceedings</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Within 30 days
			 after the date of enactment of this Act, the Securities and Exchange Commission
			 shall initiate rulemaking proceedings to revise the requirements of regulations
			 applicable to open-end investment companies under the Investment Company Act of
			 1940 relating to the disclosure of 12b–1 fees to investors in such investment
			 companies.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H5C7733E8BE264A1681F16A8B82090E4"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Completion
			 deadline</header><text>The Commission shall—</text>
				<paragraph id="HBE3AA0EA0F644A6B98A25602BF35B9A6"><enum>(1)</enum><text>complete the
			 rulemaking proceeding required by this section and prescribe changes to the
			 Commission’s rules that the Commission determines to be necessary in the public
			 interest and for the protection of investors not later than 180 days after the
			 date of enactment of this Act; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HE91FE1DA1185437295532B2BD2D27BA5"><enum>(2)</enum><text>make such changes
			 effective one year after the date the Commission prescribes the changes.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HC56D91435EE24E42AF43149D90A417A9"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definition</header><text>For
			 purposes of this section, the term <term>12b–1 fees</term> means fees permitted
			 under Rule 12b–1 (17 CFR 270.12b–1) of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s
			 rules pursuant to the Investment Company Act of 1940 (15 U.S.C. 80a–1 et
			 seq.).</text>
