		<official-title>To amend the administrative requirements for conservation
		  programs administered by the Department of Agriculture to ensure a greater
		  emphasis on increasing habitat for native and managed pollinators and
		  establishing cropping systems, integrated pest management regimes, and other
		  practices to protect native and managed pollinators, and for other
		  purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="H8968A3431139428688510013B86067A8" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Pollinator Habitat Protection Act of
			 2007</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HF2BF1EEA534C446D8667D95394E9F276"><enum>2.</enum><header>Giving pollinator
			 habitat and protection a priority in conservation programs</header>
			<subsection id="H3C4981DA47FF4436A04DD602DAF2B309"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Additional
			 administrative requirement for conservation programs</header><text>Section 1244
			 of the Food Security Act of 1985 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/3844">16 U.S.C. 3844</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the
			 end the following new subsection:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H31BA6C2B917F4BC2A933C7280099C643" style="OLC">
					<subsection id="H542AA7FC8E6E483B8EC2B41B1BC88864"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Native and
				managed pollinators</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In
				carrying out any conservation program administered by the Secretary, except the
				farmland protection program, the Secretary shall establish a priority and
				provide incentives for—</text>
						<paragraph id="H5F1E3610921142879D451E386640238C"><enum>(1)</enum><text>increasing habitat
				for native and managed pollinators, especially native habitat; and</text>
						</paragraph><paragraph id="H475D19AC40C64DE1BA63A4D2D1651E7D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>establishing
				cropping systems, integrated pest management regimes, and other practices to
				protect native and managed
				pollinators.</text>
						</paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H2ADF7A5E1FD641FF8146101EDB83D75E"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Designation of
			 pollinator protection as national priority resource concern</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Since increasing awareness about the
			 importance of pollinator protection to agricultural producers and ecosystem
			 health is a necessary step in facilitating pollinator stewardship, protection,
			 and habitat conservation, it is the sense of Congress that the Secretary of
			 Agriculture should designate pollinator protection as a <quote>national
			 priority resource concern</quote> for conservation programs administered by the
			 Department of Agriculture.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H13B6512A3C67480E8E3F2CF31198DB71"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Awareness and
			 use of pollinator-friendly native plants</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Since one of the obstacles for protecting
			 and strengthening pollinator habitat is a chronic shortage of native plants,
			 including seed and nursery stock for native plants, it is the sense of Congress
			 that—</text>
				<paragraph id="H0D42BE13DC3B4E279DAED0007BE46286"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the Secretary of
			 Agriculture should continue efforts to make nurseries and land managers aware
			 of pollinator-friendly native plants; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H82D70D29C73743A392F3AEFD4F5F3D6C"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Plant Materials Centers of the Department
			 of Agriculture should emphasize pollinator-beneficial native plantings for
			 native and managed pollinator habitat.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body>
