		  the Bureau of Justice Statistics to gather information about, study, and report
		  to the Congress regarding, incidents of abandonment of infant

		<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H7BAE269E7705459D96A8929E000531D0" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Baby Abandonment Prevention Act of
			 2007</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H57751A2EC8144D01A8F0B9EBF5B50000"><enum>2.</enum><header>Establishment of
			 task force</header>
			<subsection id="H7FDBBE1F399C4F6A91725F90495D39A4"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>The Attorney General, acting through the Director of the
			 Bureau of Justice Statistics, shall establish a task force (to be known as the
			 Task Force on Baby Abandonment) to carry out the following:</text>
				<paragraph id="H27A62FF032AF4BBB9775606599A6A51B"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Collecting
			 information from State and local law enforcement agencies and child welfare
			 agencies regarding incidents of abandonment of an infant child by a parent of
			 that child.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H092867E1C9054A55A6495D21729B00D7"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Maintaining that
			 information in a comprehensive database.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H3EAB52D73ACF4116B19F77A3E1818601"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Studying that
			 information and making findings, conclusions, and recommendations regarding
			 that information.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H4D887A2DA87B48C600B3869D3E21DB1"><enum>(4)</enum><text>Submitting reports
			 in accordance with this section.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HF27359E58FA14AEB9C8BF06BBCA42182"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Information
			 included</header><text>The information referred to in
			 <internal-xref idref="H7FDBBE1F399C4F6A91725F90495D39A4" legis-path="2.(a)">subsection (a)</internal-xref> shall include information
			 with respect to the following:</text>
				<paragraph id="H3480AE0FF6D449ADB9DC46CB2E05F053"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The prevalence of
			 such incidents.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H7D25D60F231D4CBF84884B919D469B99"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The demographics
			 of such children and such parents.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HB5E12F1D8B6E45BC96CA60ABA51F54A2"><enum>(3)</enum><text>The factors that
			 influence the decision of such parents to abandon such children.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H116FAF6B77104186B6E88B20C2D03C3C"><enum>(4)</enum><text>The circumstances
			 surrounding such abandonments, including the time, place, and manner of such
			 abandonments.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HE92B6660684C44F6841400A574C1ADF3"><enum>(5)</enum><text>The outcomes for
			 such children and such parents after such abandonments.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H483B58BF8BE8448B8215CBC2DE93F79"><enum>(6)</enum><text>Trends and
			 variations in the matters set forth in paragraphs (1) through (5).</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H2E24F4D09336424C00DADFAA03CD4D33"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definition</header><text>In
			 this section, the term <term>infant child</term> means a child not more than 12
			 months of age.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H04A98E3DA9A1474CA0C0577F8F6F8CCD"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Reports</header><text>Not
			 later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, and annually
			 thereafter, the task force shall submit a report to the Congress detailing its
			 methodology, findings, conclusions, and recommendations.</text>
