		<official-title>To amend titles XIX and XXI of the Social Security Act to
		  permit States to expand coverage for children between 19 and 25 years of age
		  under Medicaid and under the State child health insurance program
		  (SCHIP).</official-title>

		<section id="HCEAE34D29E0F452094363F3B925E15DB" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Optional coverage of older
			 children under Medicaid and SCHIP</header>
			<subsection id="H5781F38A3CD3429F9585EA00E9A2F87F"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Medicaid</header>
				<paragraph id="H2032E31AE8D6456BA2D903E3C2333FF1"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>Section 1902(l)(1)(D)of the Social Security Act (42
			 U.S.C. 1396a(l)(1)(D)) is amended by inserting <quote>(or, at the election of a
			 State, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, or 25 years of age)</quote> after <quote>19 years of
			 age</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HE35E19C255FB4108898C5318874CE86D"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Conforming
			 amendments</header>
					<subparagraph id="H7BAE2D623244434CA73FBA1B979C37A0"><enum>(A)</enum><text>Section
			 1902(e)(3)(A) of such Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1396a">42 U.S.C. 1396a(e)(3)(A)</external-xref>) is amended by inserting
			 <quote>(or 1 year less than the age the State has elected under subsection
			 (l)(1)(D))</quote> after <quote>18 years of age</quote>.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H64884B664A0E4630AA03F651D4C703CD"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1902(e)(12) of such Act (42 U.S.C.
			 1396a(e)(12)) is amended by inserting <quote>or such higher age as the State
			 has elected under subsection (l)(1)(D)</quote> after <quote>19 years of
			 age</quote>.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HCBAB3F2823A04F0BB7FD312C5BDCEDA7"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1920A(b)(1) of such Act (42 U.S.C.
			 1396r–1a(b)(1)) is amended by inserting <quote>or such higher age as the State
			 has elected under section 1902(l)(1)(D)</quote> after <quote>19 years of
			 age</quote>.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H53BC64EF1F794FF4842D2C78401E04B0"><enum>(D)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1928(h)(1) of such Act (42 U.S.C.
			 1396s(h)(1)) is amended by inserting <quote>or 1 year less than the age the
			 State has elected under section 1902(l)(1)(D)</quote> before the period at the
			 end.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H970F0626A71A451286CDF7EF6FB42816"><enum>(E)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1932(a)(2)(A) of such Act (42
			 U.S.C. 1396u–2(a)(2)(A)) is amended by inserting <quote>(or such higher age as
			 the State has elected under section 1902(l)(1)(D))</quote> after <quote>19
			 years of age</quote>.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H64427665141D4EABBF002DD54F3BCF70"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Title
			 <enum-in-header>XXI</enum-in-header></header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 2110(c)(1) of such Act (42 U.S.C.
			 1397jj(c)(1)) is amended by inserting <quote>(or such higher age as the State
			 has elected under section 1902(l)(1)(D))</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H2A0A2EB562894343A1C4F0828E33952F"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall take effect on
			 October 1, 2007, and shall apply to child health assistance and medical
			 assistance provided on or after that date without regard to whether or not
			 final regulations to carry out such amendments have been promulgated by such
			 date.</text>
