		<official-title>To permit statues honoring citizens of the District of
		  Columbia to be placed in Statuary Hall in the same manner as statues honoring
		  citizens of the States are placed in Statuary Hall, and for other
		  purposes.</official-title>

		<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H0CF29EA9E34C4A6B863F30C00433EED8" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Placement of statues of
			 citizens of District of Columbia in Statuary Hall</header>
			<subsection id="H79720D783B3D4FF99B1217006F0069F4"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>Section 1814 of the Revised Statutes of the United States
			 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/2131">2 U.S.C. 2131</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following new sentence:
			 <quote>For purposes of this section, the term <term>State</term> shall include
			 the District of Columbia.</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H82659453903243D4B162F424A885EBDD"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming
			 amendment regarding procedures for replacement of statues</header><text>Section
			 311 of the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, 2001 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/2132">2 U.S.C. 2132</external-xref>), is
			 amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text>
				<quoted-block id="HAA413ADEAAF04B30A605DE8989E63D9B">
					<subsection id="H1B5D96BE690345FCAF00133B3C8CBBF5"><enum>(f)</enum><text>For purposes of
				this section—</text>
						<paragraph id="HD9F6DD0211D141A283393BF3B24F2357"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the term
				<term>State</term> shall include the District of Columbia; and</text>
						</paragraph><paragraph id="HE0A8C44B1F674B34B5928CD9A010DB7B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in the case of the
				District of Columbia, the Council of the District of Columbia shall be treated
				as the legislature and the Mayor of the District of Columbia shall be treated
				as the
				Governor.</text>
