<official-title>To establish the Rocky Mountain Science Collections Center to assist in preserving the archeological, anthropological, paleontological, zoological, and geological artifacts and archival documentation from the Rocky Mountain region through the construction of an on-site, secure collections facility for the Denver Museum of Nature &amp; Science in Denver, Colorado.</official-title>

<section id="H2BC501DACF504CDB9C203751B6B6F500" section-type="section-one" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Rocky Mountain Science Collections Center Act of 2007</short-title></quote>.</text></section>
<section id="H644AC1EAF86D47AAAC9E64B7FDA6B937"><enum>2.</enum><header>Findings</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Congress finds that—</text>
<paragraph id="HF7DA064A1AD64714A300993D00565D9B"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the collection of the Denver Museum of Nature &amp; Science in Denver, Colorado, includes more than 1,000,000 anthropological, archeological, paleontological, zoological, and geological artifacts and supporting archival documentation;</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H6432D7C27F474451A500EBD9494F5D1F"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the collection of items housed by the Museum includes artifacts from land managed by—</text>
<subparagraph id="HF0AD5DB533054FFD9E3961E4D429CE5F"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the Bureau of Land Management;</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="HBCBFB8B549D7476281C93BB36DC55260"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the Bureau of Reclamation;</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H56E3501E1421473F899D30A0F6ECC9F"><enum>(C)</enum><text>the National Park Service;</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H4878FE2CBD584A068C24817E1D3F36EE"><enum>(D)</enum><text>the United States Fish and Wildlife Service;</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H1D8C71842F3A4E7697472F18A8DB1C09"><enum>(E)</enum><text>the Forest Service; and</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H46941B6A87AD42198D9D527CA89E49AF"><enum>(F)</enum><text>the Corps of Engineers;</text></subparagraph></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H7BE76E0B654C413FB6D172FDEFD58272"><enum>(3)</enum><text>a significant portion of the collections of the Museum were recovered from public land managed by the Federal Government;</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H1CD128BF68B9449BAD30E100DFDB171"><enum>(4)</enum><text>the Museum has been designated as the repository for those collections by Federal agencies;</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H63F2E740CF7D4EDAA2591C7DF2286558"><enum>(5)</enum><text>less than 2 percent of those collections are accessible to the public through electronic or physical mediums; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H80EDCC246B3146C79256EB60DDCB67F5"><enum>(6)</enum><text>the Museum is among the largest facilities in the western region of the United States and attracts more than 1,200,000 participants to the programs of the Museum each year from all States and territories.</text></paragraph></section>
<section id="HEDAD3926EDD9438B99A61B8E905109BE"><enum>3.</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act:</text>
<paragraph id="HEF787F153FD446DD85B363746840073"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Museum</header><text>The term <term>Museum</term> means the Denver Museum of Nature &amp; Science in Denver, Colorado.</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HAF030DB5D00E4E8EB890B3FE004CC7FE"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The term <term>Secretary</term> means the Secretary of the Interior.</text></paragraph></section>
<section id="HD3CCE49831514A03B2E73190CE3BA393"><enum>4.</enum><header>Grant for the Museum</header>
<subsection id="HDFC84835B6B9444983A925149EAEF32"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The Secretary may provide a grant to the Museum to pay the Federal share of the cost of—</text>
<paragraph id="H7D8B984452C74873B031A3CC951D48A7"><enum>(1)</enum><text>constructing 1 or more on-site collection facilities that meet the standards of the Museum; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HDAD5062346AA4F8EB8E03C001D53DDBD"><enum>(2)</enum><text>obtaining goods and services required by the Museum, including the acquisition of—</text>
<subparagraph id="HB762B6FD12B94F6F9CD775220900366E"><enum>(A)</enum><text>designs;</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H18404088F1CA445499A4B5E7FFDDEBE7"><enum>(B)</enum><text>plans;</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H117EB068FE36404BBB5BCA2B2B58D6FB"><enum>(C)</enum><text>furnishings;</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H91BF919466A040499400FD6B898723F4"><enum>(D)</enum><text>equipment; and</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H68C61A2338904AE084ABE65B7D74D337"><enum>(E)</enum><text>other support for the Museum.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection>
<subsection id="H24B40CBA893A41FEBB5C8518AE1249D8"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Application</header><text>To receive assistance under subsection (a), the Museum shall submit to the Secretary an application in such time, in such manner, and containing such additional information as the Secretary may require.</text></subsection>
<subsection id="HB67415C63F4F4618A3DF421E15A8B86B"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Matching funds</header>
<paragraph id="HC6A816C3307D4DB981D170E0EF59D999"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>As a condition of receiving assistance under subsection (a), the Museum shall match any amounts provided to the Museum under this Act.</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HC030DF8BEE2E456D007867BCC6DED97"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Forms of payment</header><text>To meet the matching requirement described in paragraph (1), the Museum may provide to the Secretary—</text>
<subparagraph id="H8D816A98E5A0459FB52E0059CD6753DD"><enum>(A)</enum><text>cash;</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H5187F562EC184E1692747E00E4A5F7CF"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in-kind donations; and</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H1E04D6BEAE36492680EAF5BA32026492"><enum>(C)</enum><text>services.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection>
<subsection id="H7D83A17BBB8845F381007408A6E3D7CB"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Authorization of appropriations</header><text>There is authorized to be appropriated to the Secretary to carry out this Act $15,000,000, to remain available until expended.</text></subsection></section>
