		  of 1968 to revise the definition of <quote>violent offender</quote> for the
		  purpose of participation in drug courts.</official-title>

		<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H133E5AED65D1412BA84D6F9DA039CCE1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Enhanced Participation in Drug Courts
			 Act of 2007</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H9260DE60569A4AD88F00533221E49DAD"><enum>2.</enum><header>Definition of
			 violent offender</header>
			<subsection id="HE9BD7595131849C08B268746EE1ADEC"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definition</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 2953(a)(1) of the Omnibus Crime
			 Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/3797u-2">42 U.S.C. 3797u–2(a)(1)</external-xref>) is amended by
			 inserting <quote>that is punishable by a term of imprisonment exceeding one
			 year</quote> after <quote>convicted of an offense</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H7051B3C4F82D4E71A8B78C9456AE6FE4"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Period for
			 compliance</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Notwithstanding
			 section 2952(2) of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (42
			 U.S.C. 3797u–1(2)), each grantee under part EE of such Act shall have not more
			 than 3 years from the date of enactment of this Act to adopt the definition of
			 <quote>violent offender</quote> under such part, as amended by
			 <internal-xref idref="HE9BD7595131849C08B268746EE1ADEC" legis-path="2.(a)">subsection (a)</internal-xref> of this section.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H89DDF55EADC7472E80AE25A2B7EB98B"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Regulations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 90 days after the date of
			 the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall revise any regulations or
			 guidelines described in section 2952 of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe
			 Streets Act of 1968 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/3797u-1">42 U.S.C. 3797u–1</external-xref>) in accordance with the amendments made
			 by <internal-xref idref="HE9BD7595131849C08B268746EE1ADEC" legis-path="3.(a)">subsection (a)</internal-xref>. Such regulations shall
			 specify that grant amounts under part EE of such Act shall be reduced for any
			 drug court that does not adopt the definition of <quote>violent
			 offender</quote> under such part, as amended by
			 <internal-xref idref="HE9BD7595131849C08B268746EE1ADEC" legis-path="2.(a)">subsection (a)</internal-xref> of this section, within 3
			 years after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
