		<official-title>To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide a
		  tax credit for teachers and principals who work in certain low income
		  schools.</official-title>

		<section id="HF6D47CC455D04740BDDC398B4CF91892" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Teacher Tax Credit Act of
			 2007</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H7887C2479B6F4B7CB3A3715D001663B9"><enum>2.</enum><header>Credit for
			 educators in certain elementary or secondary schools</header>
			<subsection id="HE6DDE4A7E80745A2BCF041C95F6EC7CF"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subpart A of part IV
			 of subchapter A of <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/26/1">chapter 1</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to
			 nonrefundable personal credits) is amended by inserting after section 25D the
			 following new section:</text>

					<section id="H70F5CA28CA164BF48FFD818900F288D5"><enum>25E.</enum><header>Educators in
				certain elementary and secondary schools</header>
						<subsection id="HC82AB7ABA27646E791B3DC9328FF0844"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Allowance of
				credit</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In the case of an
				eligible educator, there shall be allowed as a credit against the tax imposed
				by this chapter for a taxable year an amount equal to $2,000.</text>
						</subsection><subsection id="HB719A69621C944F5A1FD715874C6C0FF"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>For
				purposes of this section—</text>
							<paragraph id="HBC54FD8581C94A58A11EE58DD41D916E"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Eligible
				educator</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term
				<term>eligible educator</term> means, with respect to any taxable year, an
				individual who is a teacher, instructor, counselor, principal, or aide in any
				of grades kindergarten through 12 in an eligible elementary or secondary school
				for at least 900 hours during a school year.</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph id="H4B7C23DBFB97462BA13933DDF244804B"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Eligible
				elementary or secondary school</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>eligible elementary or
				secondary school</term> means any school that is eligible for schoolwide
				assistance under section 1114(a)(1) of title I of the Elementary and Secondary
				Education Act of
				1965.</text>
							</paragraph></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H06E1DA4DBED143A28800C6E951DAF916"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Clerical
			 amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The table of
			 sections for subpart A of part IV of subchapter A of chapter 1 of such Code is
			 amended by inserting after the item relating to section 25D the following new
			 item:</text>
				<toc regeneration="no-regeneration">
					<toc-entry level="section"><quote>Sec. 25E. Educators in certain
				elementary and secondary schools.</quote>.</toc-entry>
				</toc>
			</subsection><subsection display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H0C04BE6F9BE642A1AFB4D2D8323C55C"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by
			 this section shall apply to taxable years beginning after December 31,
			 2006.</text>
