<section id="HCDD29CB7C1734B7F005EF30099ED562D" section-type="section-one" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Energy standards for home appliances</header> 
<subsection id="H6D86190B10A94EF4B9C0BE79CABEE5C9"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definition of energy conservation standard</header><text>Section 321(6)(A) of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/6291">42 U.S.C. 6291(6)(A)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>or, in the case of</quote> and inserting <quote>and, in the case of residential clothes washers, residential dishwashers,</quote>.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="HBF753CD74792437FB787742CE260E560"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers, and freezers</header><text>Section 325(b) of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/6295">42 U.S.C. 6295(b)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>

<paragraph id="HC8A5042C25C84CF99F55D96EE580721D"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers, and freezers manufactured on or after January 1, 2014</header><text>Not later than December 31, 2010, the Secretary shall publish a final rule determining whether to amend the standards in effect for refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers, and freezers manufactured on or after January 1, 2014.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> 
<subsection id="H7646E5B45FA04CF19D1C47C9003583D3"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Residential clothes washers and dishwashers</header><text>Section 325(g)(4) of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/6295">42 U.S.C. 6295(g)(4)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>

<subparagraph id="H1637A02459E840B79CB969392080E0D3"><enum>(D)</enum><header>Clothes washers</header> 
<clause id="HFF04A56AC9A548B89200D7FC5F009C20"><enum>(i)</enum><header>Clothes washers manufactured on or after January 1, 2011</header><text>A residential clothes washer manufactured on or after January 1, 2011, shall have—</text> 
<subclause id="H6CC7FE0B453C459BBB17F22EE15199F8"><enum>(I)</enum><text>a modified energy factor of at least 1.26; and</text></subclause> 
<subclause id="H95245143F8CE41CBA7C5005616008FEF"><enum>(II)</enum><text>a water factor of not more than 9.5.</text></subclause></clause> 
<clause id="HECAC5B68142C428A8DF274007783FAA"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Clothes washers manufactured on or after January 1, 2015</header><text>Not later than December 31, 2011, the Secretary shall publish a final rule determining whether to amend the standards in effect for residential clothes washers manufactured on or after January 1, 2015.</text></clause></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H1105AD5DF16F4E359D622BBCBBE85DB"><enum>(E)</enum><header>Dishwashers</header> 
<clause id="HBE1C8EDE3E2241589F7F3E30A179E3C5"><enum>(i)</enum><header>Dishwashers manufactured on or after January 1, 2010</header><text>A dishwasher manufactured on or after January 1, 2010, shall use not more than—</text> 
<subclause id="HC7283ACE1DDF4A67ABD9DBEF72691052"><enum>(I)</enum><text>in the case of a standard-size dishwasher, 355 kWh per year or 6.5 gallons of water per cycle; and</text></subclause> 
<subclause id="HFF97A5A75AD24C9EB4CB3200E7BFB8F5"><enum>(II)</enum><text>in the case of a compact-size dishwasher, 260 kWh per year or 4.5 gallons of water per cycle.</text></subclause></clause> 
<clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H730B69C383B24D4F82E6B2E8F9FD284"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Dishwashers manufactured on or after January 1, 2018</header><text>Not later than January 1, 2015, the Secretary shall publish a final rule determining whether to amend the standards for dishwashers manufactured on or after January 1, 2018.</text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> 
<subsection id="H87AA75714C4A4AC7AB2876CB757F22EE"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Dehumidifiers</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 325(cc) of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/6295">42 U.S.C. 6295(cc)</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HFE4479E5FC2C421D96FC736EC732C520"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in paragraph (1), by inserting <quote>and before October 1, 2012,</quote> after <quote>2007,</quote>; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HBACFE11D62874FE59587D16CADACE00"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by striking paragraph (2) and inserting the following:</text>

<paragraph id="H91CE3A16CD3E4DDBB6CFC13D0054FEC1"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Dehumidifiers manufactured on or after October 1, 2012</header><text>Dehumidifiers manufactured on or after October 1, 2012, shall have an energy factor that meets or exceeds the following values:</text>
