		<official-title>To provide for nuclear disarmament and economic
		  conversion in accordance with District of Columbia Initiative Measure Number 37
		  of 1992.</official-title>

		<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H006CFFFC749A46D6BFFB528683C2FB87" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Nuclear Disarmament and Economic
			 Conversion Act of 2007</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HB34583093FB74058A86331608045A42B"><enum>2.</enum><header>Requirement for
			 nuclear disarmament and economic conversion</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The United States Government shall—</text>
			<paragraph id="H2A665099C71A4A2DAE8CDF411987F39"><enum>(1)</enum><text>disable and
			 dismantle all its nuclear weapons and refrain from replacing them at any time
			 with any weapons of mass destruction;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H0E097D2B52FE4CEFBB3E4E34DDF99688"><enum>(2)</enum><text>redirect resources
			 that are currently being used for nuclear weapons programs to use—</text>
				<subparagraph id="H0BBDFD716BF24A6C8BF12786D41FB18B"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in converting all
			 nuclear weapons industry employees, processes, plants, and programs smoothly to
			 constructive, ecologically beneficial peacetime activities during the 3 years
			 following the effective date of this Act, and</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H81D383F7DC6B4745A53F705533F0CDC7"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in addressing
			 human and infrastructure needs such as housing, health care, education,
			 agriculture, and environmental restoration, including alternative fuel
			 sources;</text>
				</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H400AD3E3167247049CAA95CDBA75C1D"><enum>(3)</enum><text>undertake vigorous
			 good faith efforts to eliminate war, armed conflict, and all military
			 operations; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H7445A812244D4A67BAEF7E53AB000000"><enum>(4)</enum><text>actively promote
			 policies to induce all other countries to join in these commitments for world
			 peace and security.</text>
			</paragraph></section><section id="HFAB87C9F0BD546D6979FF7D584BF149F"><enum>3.</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act shall take
			 effect when the President certifies to the Congress that all foreign countries
			 possessing nuclear weapons have established legal requirements comparable to
			 those set forth in section 2 and those requirements have taken effect.</text>
