<official-title>To amend title 5, United States Code, to eliminate the discriminatory treatment of the District of Columbia under the provisions of law commonly referred to as the <quote>Hatch Act</quote>.</official-title>

<section id="HF2719ED16E5F45F182D3542E2028D1F6" section-type="section-one" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short Title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>District of Columbia Hatch Act Reform Act of 2007</short-title></quote>. </text></section> 
<section section-type="subsequent-section" id="HCADE89FB84DF43228680EC541EF00004" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>2.</enum><header>Employees of the District of Columbia to be subject to the same restrictions on political activity as apply to State and local employees</header> 
<subsection id="H1692CA6BC4BA4F57A649D0E129FA8D3F"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Applicability of provisions relating to State and local employees</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/1501">Section 1501(1)</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code, is amended by striking <quote>a State or territory</quote> and inserting <quote>a State, the District of Columbia, or a territory</quote>.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H471F8A012C644C1989C0A086219CE1BC"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Provisions relating to Federal employees made inapplicable</header><text>Section 7322(1) of such title is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HBB3A2ED1FA0B4E92AB7704CA70C3EE8E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>or</quote> at the end of subparagraph (A);</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H77C8A4AE2A6F4C54A1FC00E0ACAD9057"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end of subparagraph (B);</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HBBEA4741277843F6B2B7D29BBFCDF94"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by striking subparagraph (C); and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H86CEBA28A95945B0B6EFF8D156AB148F"><enum>(4)</enum><text>by striking <quote>services;</quote> and inserting <quote>services or an individual employed or holding office in the government of the District of Columbia;</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection></section> 
<section id="H1D279F420BC8439B80A369D2FE4C31B"><enum>3.</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The amendments made by this Act shall take effect on the effective date of a law enacted by the District of Columbia after the date of the enactment of this Act which places restrictions on political activities of employees of the District of Columbia government, and shall apply with respect to actions occurring on or after that date. </text></section>
