<official-title>To extend the period during which members of the Armed Forces deployed in contingency operations may request and receive reimbursement for helmet pads, which are designed to protect the wearer from bomb blasts and non-ballistic impacts, that are purchased by such members.</official-title>

<section id="H4EE3246B728D4E389D6DD98601ABB270" section-type="section-one" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Extension of period for reimbursement for helmet pads purchased by members of the armed forces deployed in contingency operations</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 351 of the Ronald W. Reagan National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2005 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/108/375">Public Law 108–375</external-xref>; 118 Stat. 1857) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HB46AA6C413DB456E8131C391616534DB"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (a)(3), by inserting before the period at the end the following: <quote>, or in the case of protective helmet pads purchased by a member for that member’s personal use, on September 30, 2007</quote>;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H9F6182C02DA24306912975CDEFA8A114"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subsection (c), by inserting before the period at the end the following: <quote>or one year after the date on which the purchase of the protective, safety, or health equipment was made, whichever occurs last</quote>; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H3E0CAE3784DD42218D84C4EAEA28356"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in subsection (d), by adding at the end the following new sentence: <quote>Subsection (a)(1) shall not apply in the case of the purchase of protective helmet pads by or on behalf of a member.</quote>.</text></paragraph></section>
