<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H4745299911CD4EEEAD1CBBD120480566" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Puerto Rico Economic Stimulus Act of 2007</short-title></quote>.</text> </section>
<section id="H49BF4D8D00FC441397E445A0695B63CB"><enum>2.</enum><header>Puerto Rico residents eligible for earned income tax credit</header> 
<subsection id="HCB48F3CF273741CE837E7263C4E5E89F"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/32">Section 32</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to earned income) is amended by inserting at the end the following new subsection:</text>

<subsection id="HAEA915D50845488900E53765F527ECF3"><enum>(n)</enum><header>Residents of Puerto Rico</header> 
<paragraph id="HFD0F1F61858141C0A8110247024FD655"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>In the case of residents of Puerto Rico, this section shall be applied—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HA2B54C4A6ABF40EA9745B80CF73C6BC"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by substituting <quote>United States or Puerto Rico</quote> for <quote>United States</quote> in subsections (c)(1)(A)(ii)(I) and (c)(3)(C),</text> </subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H31573B8944BF4F28AEBE747B00D454ED"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by substituting <quote>nonresident alien individual (other than a resident of Puerto Rico)</quote> for <quote>nonresident alien individual</quote> in subsection (c)(1)(D), and</text> </subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H8C5B3A693A6E47E88B86006B90AAF56D"><enum>(C)</enum><text>by substituting <quote>gross income (computed without regard to section 933)</quote> for <quote>gross income</quote> in subsections (a)(2)(B) and (c)(2)(A)(i).</text> </subparagraph></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H8FA7C171949C433193A3A31E28F0BCA4"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Phase-in of credit</header> 
<subparagraph id="H8E19AE99D5C34D08832358EC82EB81B"><enum>(A)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The credit allowable under this section by reason of this subsection shall not exceed the applicable percentage of the amount of credit which would otherwise be allowable under this section (without regard to this paragraph).</text> </subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="HC5A267DCEDA94D8E8970476B9E4B43A7"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Applicable percentage</header><text>The applicable percentage shall be determined as follows:</text>

<subsection id="H1C0351AFD8CB4C7EAD72002936A86315"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendment made by this section shall apply to taxable years beginning after December 31, 2007.</text> </subsection></section>
