		<official-title>To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to exclude
		  from gross income the earned income of a spouse of a member of the Armed Forces
		  of the United States serving in a combat zone.</official-title>

		<section id="HE86011D87C9C47BEA59834E9B114319B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Strengthening America’s Military
			 Families Act of 2007</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H23D81C8F662140E296E08CD300875C23" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exclusion from gross
			 income for earned income of a spouse of a member of the Armed Forces serving in
			 a combat zone</header>
			<subsection id="H6B45501D36B34AB7B781520002DA29EC"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 112 of the
			 Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to certain combat zone compensation of
			 members of the Armed Forces) is amended by redesignating subsections (c) and
			 (d) as subsections (d) and (e), respectively, and by inserting after subsection
			 (b) the following new subsection:</text>

					<subsection id="H857946FCAECF45FEB9E7C482EB64CFA5"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Spouses of
				members of the Armed Forces</header>
						<paragraph id="H24AF5F6FBD5C42B3960339D5CFAA60A4"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
				general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In the case of an
				individual who is the spouse of a member of the Armed Forces of the United
				States during any part of any month during the taxable year, gross income does
				not include the earned income of such individual for such month if the
				compensation of such member was excluded from gross income for such month by
				reason of subsection (a), (b), or (e).</text>
						</paragraph><paragraph id="H69BE7F4FA6DA45238C9D66CA565BD374"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Limitation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amount excluded under paragraph (1) for
				any month shall not exceed the maximum amount specified in subsection (b) for
				such month.</text>
						</paragraph><paragraph id="H3E9EC08EF3CB4BAFB756F61000164158"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Earned
				income</header><text>For purposes of paragraph (1), the term <term>earned
				income</term> has the meaning given such term by section 911(d)(2).</text>
						</paragraph><paragraph id="H81E8681D135740E2BA3868006379E426"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Marital
				status</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For purposes of this
				subsection, marital status shall be determined under section 7703, except that
				subsection (a)(1) thereof shall be applied on a monthly basis instead of an
				taxable year basis.</text>
						</paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H611A76C860E44C0700C0B574D1FE836"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming
			 amendments</header>
				<paragraph id="HAC3C3239226F400ABE7E8221417D22BB"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The heading for
			 section 112 of such Code is amended to read as follows:</text>

						</section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H50040BFFA1F142B1B8FCA6B44EB58A8"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The item relating
			 to section 112 in the table of sections for part III of subchapter B of chapter
			 1 of such Code is amended to read as follows:</text>

				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HC4D688354D274239BD481245FEC6C99E"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall apply to taxable
			 years beginning after December 31, 2006.</text>
