<whereas><text>Whereas the United States is one of the largest wine producing countries in the world, with the United States wine, grape, and grape products industry representing more than 1 percent of the $13,800,000,000 American economy in 2007;</text> </whereas>
<whereas><text>Whereas the wine and winegrape industry of Texas has an economic impact of $1,000,000,000 on the economy of Texas;</text> </whereas>
<whereas><text>Whereas since 2000, the wine and winegrape industry of Texas has experienced tremendous growth, with nearly 90 percent of that growth resulting from an increase in the number and revenue of small wineries producing less than 5,000 gallons of wine each year; and</text> </whereas>
<whereas><text>Whereas in 2005, the wine and winegrape industry of Texas—</text> 
<paragraph id="H9F01BA7DB26144F4ACFF557C510009D2"><enum>(1)</enum><text>included 113 wineries and 220 commercial growers of winegrapes on 2,900 acres;</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="HCD3F7CF6C6424F64A7E0EB3579489BF6"><enum>(2)</enum><text>produced over 626,000 cases of wine;</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="H3F8D128F5833411B9D61794CFC52BEEC"><enum>(3)</enum><text>provided the equivalent of 8,000 full-time jobs and paid over $234,000,000 in wages to workers;</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="H84B13E8408544D12A11C905B226E6122"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">generated revenue from wineries that produced an economic impact of $91,500,000 on the economy of Texas;</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="H6E98C56640C44C05BC9076CFE4C5EFD1"><enum>(5)</enum><text>generated over $10,000,000 in revenue from vineyards in Texas;</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="H6CDEDADF9ECE40D997E1B5CC057FE88F"><enum>(6)</enum><text>attracted over 868,000 tourists to Texas, who spent over $220,000,000; and</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="H90FB49F0C21A443C9D70C982F4A212C7"><enum>(7)</enum><text>generated over $69,000,000 in Federal, State, and local taxes: Now, therefore, be it</text> </paragraph></whereas></preamble>

<section display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H9DB3E67FE20F4646888347152FE6643F" section-type="undesignated-section"><enum></enum><text>That Congress—</text> 
<paragraph id="HE35BEE5623B84E8EA4878D88056D3DE6"><enum>(1)</enum><text>recognizes the importance of the United States wine, winegrape, and grape products industry to the American economy; and</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="H253E6D07C372409C909411B36F96C400"><enum>(2)</enum><text>directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Texas Department of Agriculture and the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association in Grapevine, Texas.</text> </paragraph></section>
